Some cracking teams being assembled here - this is going to make for some VERY tough voting I reckon.

It really will, I'm happy with my team but there are some incredible ones in here that look the utter nuts.

I'm considering making a quick FM14 league using the assembled squads and simulating a season, just to see who wins. FM knows everything after all...

I'd be interested to see that...mind you, could be tricky with each team only having 11 players (ie - no subs, no injury/supension cover).

DO IT. I was gonna suggest this as an alternative way of deciding a winner. We should have a FM category. Post up the results and the final table. :)

Hmm. Good point...though, we've all picked managers to take the reins, that would be a good way of judging them as the game/they would try to plug gaps where it could.

That way, the main 11 would still be those picked by us during this draft...

Apologies everybody for jumping in, but I felt my team was lacking in presentation compared to other teams. So I've copied everyone else and done it professionally.

So, Team GNLF in detail:

Category 1: Samir Handanovic
Category 2: Wayne Rooney
Category 3: Jaoa Moutinho
Category 4: Hulk
Category 5: Robin Van Persie
Category 6: Javier Mascherano
Category 7: Jurgen Klopp
Category 8: Holger Badstuber
Category 9: Daniel Carvajal
Category 10: Shinji Kagawa
Category 11: Sergei Ignashevich
Category 12: Ashley Cole

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Formation:

-------------------Handanovic--------------------
Carvajal-----Ignashevich-----Holger--------Cole
-----------Mascherano------Moutinho-----------
-------------------Kagawa------------------------
-------Hulk--------Rooney-------Van Persie------

This is a proper team. A balanced team. An experienced team(720 international caps and 30 domestic titles). It has one of the top five keepers in world football playing behind a vastly experienced defence(apart from the youthful rightback but he's broken into the Real Madrid team so no worries there). The defence is shielded by a player ho is and has been one of the worlds best defensive midfielders allowing the full backs to push on up the pitch when the team is attacking and giving the other two midfielders the freedom to roam and create. Up top are three of the very best strikers in the modern game with circa 700 career goals between them, all of them capable of creating a constantly moving, fluid, interchangeable forward line.

Vote Team GNLF

In that case my final team is...

my final pick is my manager. He has an impressive honours list including: 4 Coppa Italias, 3 Serie A titles, 1 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup and a Turkish Cup. He manages outside the top 5 leagues as he is Galatasaray manager. He is Roberto Mancini

It is obvious where my strengths lie, and that is in attack. I have paid absolutely no attention to defence so expect plenty of 7-6 thrillers when Team Turienzo come to town

weidenfeller

johnson luisao shaw

wanyama

xavi cabaye

navas iniesta reus

huntelaar

My final pick fills my midfield adding a real attacking option.
Drafting in my first player from the African nations is an Egyptian who started to shine a couple of years back while at FC Basel.

Mohamed Salah

Category 1 - Has played at least 200 times for one club - Nemanja Vidic

Category 10 - Has won a league title with 2 different clubs - Thiery Henry
Category 11 – Is over 30 years old - Gianluigi Buffon
Category 12 - Has faced Brighton at some point in his career - Arsene Wenger

Your final pick then gullsflyinghigh

Now that my last pick has been made, my complete draft looks something like this;

Category 1 - Has played at least 200 times for one club - Giorgio Chiellini
Category 2 – Has made over 70 International appearances - Yaya Toure
Category 3 - Has never played at a World Cup - Victor Valdes
Category 4 - Plays/Manages outside the “top 5” leagues - Ricardo Quaresma
Category 5 – Has been the top goal scorer in a top-flight season - Mario Mandzukic
Category 6 – Played/Managed football in at least 4 different countries - Marcelo Bielsa
Category 7 – Has been relegated during his career - Raphael Varane
Category 8 – Has played in a Champions League Semi-Final/Final - Andre Schurrle
Category 9 – Is under 24 years of age - Koke
Category 10 - Has won a league title with 2 different clubs - Alex Sandro
Category 11 – Is over 30 years old - Maicon
Category 12 - Has faced Brighton at some point in his career - Jack Wilshere

The provisional formation for Sporting Gullflyinghigh (provisional name as well, I'm sure I can do better given time!) is a 4-2-3-1, as below;

Manager - Marcelo Bielsa

Valdes
Maicon, Varane, Chiellini, Alex Sandro
Wilshere, Toure
Quaresma, Schurrle, Koke
Mandzukic

I like to think that I've managed to put together a team that lacks any real weakness, whilst mixing together a group of experienced veterans and up-and-coming future stars of the game. Under the watchful eye of Marcelo 'Loco' Bielsa, who knows what they could achieve?

As a sidenote, I'm really quite sad there are no more picks to be made. However will I spend time at work now?! *sigh*

Here is Team Pauldcpfc:

Ter Stegen
Lahm --- Kompany -- Campagnaro - Azpilicueta
Javi Martinez
Vidal ------ Pjanic
Tevez ------------------- Lavezzi
Giroud

Manager: Frank De Boer

A team that has a very strong base, with overlapping full backs to provide the width. This will complement the 2 wingers who prefer to play closer to the striker. When the full backs bomb forward, Martinez can drop back to turn it into a mobile back 3. The midfield trio are all good players of the ball, and Vidal and Pjanic can keep the ball on the deck, and cut the team open with incisive passes.

By Category:
1: Played 200 times for one club: Javi Martinez (for Athletic Bilbao)
2: Has 70 international appearances: Phillip Lahm (for Germany)
3: Has not played at a World Cup: Ezequiel Lavezzi (Argentina)
4: Manages outside the top 5 leagues (currently): Frank De Boer (Ajax, Netherlands)
5: Top Goalscorer in any top division: Olivier Giroud (Ligue 1)
6: Played in 4 different countries: Carlos Tevez (Argentina, Brazil, England, Italy)
7: Has been relegated: Miralem Pjanic (Metz)
8: Played in a Champs League Semi/Final: Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)
9: Under the Age of 24: Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (Borussia Moenchengladbach... en route to Barcelona)
10: Has won a title with 2 different clubs: Arturo Vidal (Colo Colo, Juventus)
11: Over 30 years old: Hugo Campagnaro (Inter Milan, 34 years old)
12: Faced Brighton: Vincent Kompany (September 2008 for Man City)

Just a little message to ask everyone if they could post a formation like others have, makes it easier when it comes to the voting. It's quick and easy. I'll post a few links, doesn't have to be done right this second but if you can get it done by the end of the draft.

Rohana - for me this is the best part, and the line up builders are so unimaginative (there's a market there just for this game), so will you accept this...

I've gone for an aggressive 3-4-3. Goals a plenty!

While searching for my left back, who plays outside the big 5, I wasn't confident but then came across a list of the top 15 left backs in the world and found an argentinian who currently plays for Zenit St. Petersburg - Cristian Ansaldi. This tough tackling fullback continues to fly under the radar because he plays in Russia. The versatile defender can play on either flank, but has the discipline, timing and balance of a central defender with the attacking prowess of a wing-back. He has tremendous acceleration and speed. He is also one of the better tacklers and cuts off a lot of passes.

Very very pleased with my final pick, assuming I haven't missed his drafting in the last few days.
