I had a fear that some would see being in a World Cup squad as the same as playing in one.

We've had a few moments of confusion so far so it didn't seem outside the realms of possibility that it could happen...

Surely if this is a "current" World XI Draft - and therefore based on current quality/form, then he wouldnt be highly regarded in this format?

I reckon he's got to be gainfully employed, at least at the time of selection.

Quite possibly, though would the same thinking apply to a player (for example, Messi), if he was out injured (or released by Barca for a bizarre reason)? You'd still know he's incredible regardless...

I only ask as there are many talented managers out there but, unlike players, it's entirely feasible that some highly regarded ones could be unemployed at the time of the draft.

Well that was my thinking, specifically around the 'outside the top 5' category. It does mean that all unemployed managers are in play but at the same time you're effectively choosing to pay a penalty as they're unlikely to be a top name (Guardiola would be out of reach for example).

This is the kind of shit I don't think about when I decide the categories, haha.

I think the way I'm leaning is, an unemployed manager counts for most categories but when it comes to "manages outside the top 5" they wouldn't count.

For example somebody who had managed one team 200 times would be allowed in to that category (as long as they haven't retired) but wouldn't count as managing outside the top 5 leagues.
