Weather is just about as perfect as you can get in the UK. Going down the beach with a book and BBQ.
Those were the days .... players wives on the bus, Comedians, normally Tarbuck, waiting forever for the teams to go and lift the trophy
Will check out the score about full time.
A far cry from the kudos and huge interest in the 70’s and 80’s …. ITV and BBC coming live from the participants country hotels from mid morning, following them into Wembley.
I'm in Cumbria and couldn't care less about the cup final.I’m in Manila and couldn’t care less about the cup final
Not even that - I'm sure I'll see the goals at some point. I have less interest in this final than almost any other one I can think of.probably catch up with it on MOTD...
The words "FA Cup Final Arsenal v Leeds" are all the confirmation I need that the 70s were an awful time I'm blessed to have missed.
Locking down for tomorrow’s storm might be a better idea. When I'm out in BGC at 11pm football is the last thing on my mind as well
Shame you don’t like the Euros. In some ways, big internationals are the purest form of football now as no team can buy all the best players. All the corporate stuff around it is crap for fans but the football’s ok.
What do you mean by corporate stuff around it out of interest? Ive attended almost all major tournaments since 2006 and I’d say the experience is generally ‘purer’ than club footballShame you don’t like the Euros. Erm...What do you mean by corporate stuff around it out of interest? Ive attended almost all major tournaments since 2006 and I’d say the experience is generally ‘purer’ than club football
I’d argue that was one of the best world cups for fans - it was hosted in 1 city! Logistically easier to plan around than Germany has been this summer
Well that's just fine then.I’d argue that was one of the best world cups for fans - it was hosted in 1 city! Logistically easier to plan around than Germany has been this summer
Not sure this would get passed in the ITV production meeting now?
It was only 30 years since the end of the war…….
I love a lot of the stuff at tournaments that takes place outside and away from the grounds. Mingling with other fans is great. Inside, my experience is that a huge proportion of seats are taken up by official sponsors, the governing bodies and in Qatar, fairly passive, uninterested locals. Plus the pre-match 'entertainment' has reached a level where it destroys rather than helps the atmosphere. It's a relief when someone finally kicks a ball. Each to their own. Since France '98 I've only missed 2002, 2008 and didn't get to any games in the weird 2021 edition. I think they've become progressively more commercialised, from a pretty high base to begin with. What do you mean by corporate stuff around it out of interest? I'd argue it was the worst there's ever been by far. So we're not likely to agree on the other stuffI’d argue that was one of the best world cups for fans - it was hosted in 1 city! Logistically easier to plan around than Germany has been this summer
