[Football] Cup Final Day!

The only sport I’ll be watching this weekend will be F1. The most glamorous race of the season and probably the least competitive. (Unlikely to be as uncompetitive as the Cup Final though) I might have a look at the Championship play off if I see Leeds are imploding on here. Win/win if Leeds stay down and Martin leaving Saints for us potentially probably goes out the window.
Those were the days .... players wives on the bus, Comedians, normally Tarbuck, waiting forever for the teams to go and lift the trophy

One team I loathe and another I'm indifferent to. Artists' Open Houses for me this afternoon. I might cheer Leeds on tomorrow though.
I'm in Cumbria and couldn't care less about the cup final.
Not even that - I'm sure I'll see the goals at some point. I have less interest in this final than almost any other one I can think of.
The words "FA Cup Final Arsenal v Leeds" are all the confirmation I need that the 70s were an awful time I'm blessed to have missed.

What do you mean by corporate stuff around it out of interest? Ive attended almost all major tournaments since 2006 and I’d say the experience is generally ‘purer’ than club football
I’d argue that was one of the best world cups for fans - it was hosted in 1 city! Logistically easier to plan around than Germany has been this summer

I love a lot of the stuff at tournaments that takes place outside and away from the grounds. Mingling with other fans is great. Inside, my experience is that a huge proportion of seats are taken up by official sponsors, the governing bodies and in Qatar, fairly passive, uninterested locals. Plus the pre-match 'entertainment' has reached a level where it destroys rather than helps the atmosphere. It's a relief when someone finally kicks a ball. Each to their own. Since France '98 I've only missed 2002, 2008 and didn't get to any games in the weird 2021 edition. I think they've become progressively more commercialised, from a pretty high base to begin with.
I'd argue it was the worst there's ever been by far. So we're not likely to agree on the other stuff
