It was a penalty and perhaps Benteke should have been off.

At the end of the day most of our efforts were long range efforts which gives the keeper time to do something , good we are shooting but a bit more venon is required. Dunk needed to do better with that header.

We looked a good footballing side.

Will Stephen replace Bissouma who I thought had an a great game.

Yes, I do feel that was down to the strength of their organisation. Credit where it is due. It's such a hard league. But we have arrived now. That's what pleases me.

It does grate with me a bit that all the reports I've read mention how many times Zaha was "fouled". No, I say to myself, he won fouls.

Not until tonight has he wound me up this much, and he obviously hates us as much as we hate him (fair play to him for that), but for a player with that much skill, he doesn't half get on my nerves with his needless faffery.

Belting goal though.

Bissouma had one of those nights where being subbed made you realise he’d been playing

It's all opinions but what on earth were you watching tonight? I thought Bissouma had a great game, plenty of possession, forward runs and tackles. Occasionally (like everyone else) lacked the final ball but otherwise a really strong performance, so much so that I'd be tempted to keep him for Saturday over Stephens.

Zaha 'I'd love to play football with you as boss'
Potter 'Won't happen, we can't afford your contract'
Zaha 'You could always come here'
Potter 'You planning on staying then ?'
Zaha 'Rotten weather isn't it ?'

So annoying as their only good player produced the goods and got them out of jail

I have never seen our wide players have so much time on the ball. Montoya, Trossard, Mooy and Gross had miles of space as Palace was playing so compact. I guess they were giving us the wide spaces cause they thought we couldn't score on a cross given our forwards' height. Glad that we did indeed score on a cross after all. Who got the official assist there, Trossard or Gross? amazing right footed one touch cross by Trossard.

Disappointed we didn’t win. Felt Montoya was at fault for the goal, good as it was a finish because he stood off Zaha too long with Webster covering. Bissouma was a non entity and sadly looks on a downward curve despite limited game time, he just doesn’t command the midfield or spring attacks quickly enough. Really like to see him truly boss a game but he looks too lightweight. Mooy again solid and threatening whilst Maupay looked sharp and rewarded with a great goal. Ryan had little to do except pick the ball out of the net once. Starting to fear going to Selhurst a little less mind.

Eh? Bissouma was absolute quality and launched the attack that led to our goal?

Lovely to read this quote from Clinton Morrison on the BBC's website:

"I like what Brighton are doing. A new manager has come in and they're playing exciting football - but I don't think that is Crystal Palace.

Under Roy Hodgson they are never going to change. Hodgson is really good at what he does; he sets them up to be hard to beat and they play a lot on the counter-attack.

But when they lose Wilfried Zaha - and it's going to happen either in January or the summer - they are going to have to change their style of football because they aren't going to have Zaha there who can win a game individually."

I'll be forever grateful to Chris Hughton for the job he did at Brighton. We would not be where we are without him and I don't just mean the promotion and the first season in the PL. Last year, when we were collapsing, he did what he did in his first year. He went back to basics and set up not to concede. It wasn't good to watch, it relied on a bit of luck and playing the percentages, but it's ultimate success meant that we are still in the Premier League.

However, nobody who watched tonight can still be asking why Brighton changed managers. Roy Hodgson is doing the same pragmatic, organised and spirit inducing job that Chris did and that Hodgson did at Fulham, and West Brom, but there is not a single Palace fan who could come on here and honestly say that they would not swap him for the promise of someone like Potter. They reached for this when they appointed De Boer and they bottled it when the risks became obvious quickly. The fact that, in just six months we show every sign of succeeding where they failed in comical fashion must be eating them up inside.

As Brighton fans we have all felt the fleeting but wondrous joy of an ill-deserved smash and grab point. However, very few football fans ever get to feel that their team will be capable of beating virtually any other team that it plays. Considering the unfeasibly monied competition we face, it would be ridiculous and arrogant to suggest that Potter may ever bring us that feeling, but at the moment, it's starting to seem like he may be getting us closer to that than we have ever been before or are ever likely to be again. Let's enjoy the ride.

blimey!!!

Highlights just starting on Sky Sports.

Also, sensibly policed outside the ground after the game without the usual nonsense. Allowed to turn left for Thornton Heath for once.

This......haven’t watched the highlights back yet but thought Bissouma had an excellent game, along with Pröpper in the middle.

Brighton factually.....
You gotta love the BBC

Breakfast TV

“Highlights” playing showing just Zahahaha’s goal obviously...

“Only one game in Premiership last night, where Wilfred Zahahaha stole the show, rescuing a point for Palace”

At no point for the goal did Montoya sell himself - he blocked any route on Zaha's stronger side, forcing him onto his weaker side - thats what you're taught as a defender. He was INCHES from getting a block on the shot. INCHES.

It's like you are trying to find a reason to blame him. It was a good goal. Fortunate perhaps given the circumstances (and 9/10 of those would have ended up in the Holmesdale) but you really can't blame him for the goal.

Yes.
Having seen it multiple times now, perhaps Montoya was a yard away, but fine margins.

I immediately felt Webster hadn’t done enough (again fine margins), and I still feel that way. Should have been closer to Montoya....

However, as my post last night still in pleased [emoji2][emoji106]

Bemused by people saying Montoya should have done better, he did his job and put him on his weaker foot. I don’t think anyone could have better but if your going to blame Montoya why aren’t you asking why Ryan was beaten at the near post?!

A very positive game for us. I’ve seen comparisons to the saints and West Ham games and it’s clear to me we need to be more clinical and get the second goal which would put a lot of these results to bed

Gross officially given the assist. If you watch the slow motion the ball woudlnt have reached Maupay without the touch.

Of course Trossard put that lovely volley cross in for the goal, but christ he had enough of the ball in good positions in the first half to have laid on half a dozen goals.... I felt he rarely if ever took his man on, something I thought was his forte.... wasted so much promising possession.
