I think we just got tired in the end, the movement for the first 75 minutes was Man City like. I don’t think anyone had a bad game, we just needed to be a bit more careful with passes in the attacking areas. I thought Bissouma did well considering his lack of game time, we didn’t seem to miss Stephens as much as I thought we would. Mixed feelings at the final whistle, gutted not to have made them pay when we were bossing it but relieved we didn’t lose when they came on strong after we tired.

It’s an away point.

Except for the one we scored from.....

Except his ridiculous assist?

Yes, alright, APART from the assist :lolol:

But, honestly, we drew with an xg that rounds up to 3. Is it the goal he set up that counts or the 10 or so chances he spunked? Potter took him off don’t forget

I'd like him to run directly at players in the box more - I'm sure we could win more penalties than we have. Without cheating.

Some people have very short memories. Still dread the trip to Selhurst but that performance was so positive.

This is a good away point and a tough ground to go and play the brand of football we did, for the most part.

I thought Bissouma looked much stronger, and it seems like he has put on half a stone of muscle.

Potters team are improving on all their weak points overnight, amazing!

Lovely to read this quote from Clinton Morrison on the BBC's website:

"I like what Brighton are doing. A new manager has come in and they're playing exciting football - but I don't think that is Crystal Palace.

Under Roy Hodgson they are never going to change. Hodgson is really good at what he does; he sets them up to be hard to beat and they play a lot on the counter-attack.

But when they lose Wilfried Zaha - and it's going to happen either in January or the summer - they are going to have to change their style of football because they aren't going to have Zaha there who can win a game individually."

I'll be forever grateful to Chris Hughton for the job he did at Brighton. We would not be where we are without him and I don't just mean the promotion and the first season in the PL. Last year, when we were collapsing, he did what he did in his first year. He went back to basics and set up not to concede. It wasn't good to watch, it relied on a bit of luck and playing the percentages, but it's ultimate success meant that we are still in the Premier League.

However, nobody who watched tonight can still be asking why Brighton changed managers. Roy Hodgson is doing the same pragmatic, organised and spirit inducing job that Chris did and that Hodgson did at Fulham, and West Brom, but there is not a single Palace fan who could come on here and honestly say that they would not swap him for the promise of someone like Potter. They reached for this when they appointed De Boer and they bottled it when the risks became obvious quickly. The fact that, in just six months we show every sign of succeeding where they failed in comical fashion must be eating them up inside.

As Brighton fans we have all felt the fleeting but wondrous joy of an ill-deserved smash and grab point. However, very few football fans ever get to feel that their team will be capable of beating virtually any other team that it plays. Considering the unfeasibly monied competition we face, it would be ridiculous and arrogant to suggest that Potter may ever bring us that feeling, but at the moment, it's starting to seem like he may be getting us closer to that than we have ever been before or are ever likely to be again. Let's enjoy the ride.

At no point for the goal did Montoya sell himself - he blocked any route on Zaha's stronger side, forcing him onto his weaker side - thats what you're taught as a defender. He was INCHES from getting a block on the shot. INCHES.

It's like you are trying to find a reason to blame him. It was a good goal. Fortunate perhaps given the circumstances (and 9/10 of those would have ended up in the Holmesdale) but you really can't blame him for the goal.

I am in no way lambasting him for it, I'm just a bit disappointed with it.

If they just think back to Coppells trip they would be elated about tonight's performance.

What a time to be an Albion fan, old or new.

Spot on that is how I saw it also.

Quick feet are hard to defend, if you want to be critical you could say if Webster stayed upright, it would have knocked his head off!

Now sort your politics out.

You love me really

Absolutely. But being so insanely dominant and then not win (not for the first time this season!) does make it really gutting whatever way you look at it.

Players will be absolutely gutted now too I'm sure. Hopefully they'll take their frustration out on sheff united on Saturday...

Aren’t they haunted, by Lopez, Andone, Knockeart?

We’ve avenged it mate. We won’t get a 5-0. There’s not too many away grounds where we’ve won by that much. We were terrible then. We’re not now.

Believe

Nah. Those were good wins. That afternoon at Selhurst, not played for 13 years, huge away following...then the game began. It was traumatic. No wonder they sing about it still

Disappointed we didn’t win. Felt Montoya was at fault for the goal, good as it was a finish because he stood off Zaha too long with Webster covering. Bissouma was a non entity and sadly looks on a downward curve despite limited game time, he just doesn’t command the midfield or spring attacks quickly enough. Really like to see him truly boss a game but he looks too lightweight. Mooy again solid and threatening whilst Maupay looked sharp and rewarded with a great goal. Ryan had little to do except pick the ball out of the net once. Starting to fear going to Selhurst a little less mind.

Just got back home... still buzzing at our domination but we really need to make and take more chances.

I thought Propper was our stand out player.

Never heard such relentless abuse of a player as was directed at Dunk. Shameful.

Montoya to blame
Bissouma a non-entity

What were you doing this evening, aside from not watching the match?

Nope, think that’s fair. Monty could done better. Much better. Bissouma had one of those nights where being subbed made you realise he’d been playing

Wow, I don’t think it’s possible to have a more opposite opinion about a match. I thought Bissouma was fantastic tonight and clearly I’m not alone on here. A Palace fan I spoke to tonight also thought he was the best player on the pitch, I thought he was second best after Propper.

And I also don’t blame Montoya for their goal at all, he did everything right but we were beaten by a sublime piece of play that Zaha could only repeat every 20 or so attempts probably.

I thought we missed Stephens and Montoya is our weakest link IMO, and I don’t think Zaha goal can be called sublime. Good, but made easier given time and space conceded. There was an air of inevitably about it, long before, don’t you think? Certainly the Palace fans I was with were anticipating as was I.

How could Montoya have done better, when one-on-one against a good winger, after forcing him onto his weaker foot to begin with, then having to defend a bullet of a shot which even the best keeper in the world would have struggled against?

Bissouma was great tonight - he wasn't flowing in attacking terms but he was tasked with the Stephens role of breaking up play and didn't give their midfield a moments peace. It wasn't a typical Bissouma performance, but it was an effective one and showed maturity that we haven't often seen from him.
