Well in Suzy's own words she'd like to be referred to as her/she, but understands it's a huge change and still doesn't mind being called Eddie and he/him. She's still going under Eddie for public appearances, so I guess you can't really get it wrong. However just out of common courtesy you'd do your best to use she/her, as it's her preferred choice.

As to her being a candidate for Brighton and a Palace fan, can't say I'm overly fussed if she did a great job, but since she wouldn't be my MP, I'm not overly bothered either.

Well said. It's basic respect. The ignorance of some people on here is astounding. Would it kill people to just try to be pleasant and at least attempt to be understanding? Most people don't mind if you make a mistake as long as you're trying to be reasonable. This whole trans issue is so minor that if people just tried that little bit harder to be tolerant and accommodating instead of belligerent, entrenched arseholes it simply wouldn't (in most cases) be an issue. As for Suzy, if you like what she says and what she stands for, vote for her, if not vote for someone else. Simple.

As capitalism has failed this country yet again, I would like a real socialist government. Less private ownership of healthcare, utilities and transport. Money being invested in the state rather than topping up the investment accounts of shareholders. Adequate funding for schools, hospitals, mental health services. Policies designed to promote equality of opportunity for every child born or raised in this country. A Labour government under Starmer will be far from that.

And a Tory government will be further. This country will not vote for a socialist government, so until we have PR you’re going to have to hold your nose while voting I’m afraid

That argument doesn't really work, names and gender ID are not the same thing. Personally I think it's incredibly odd that someone clearly a man, who looks like a man, acts like a man, has all the physical attributes of a man and was born a man insists on being called a woman, you're not a woman just because you say you are, science and biological fact dictates otherwise. You may 'identify' as a woman but you're not a biological woman so I won't pander to your preferred pronouns because frankly I don't have to. I don't have any issue with sexuality as that's an entirely different subject.

Perhaps people who were members of the CHC (Campaign for Homosexual Equality) were people with a sense of decency and fair play, campaigning against injustice, were actually decent people, who made a more positive contribution than some of todays's posers screaming for adulation for a bloke in a skirt.

until recently people simply introduced themselves, without any reference to gender. most the time no one really cares, if you introduce yourself as Susan people will go with it, if you're Peter they'll go with that. whats odd is people tweeking the social norms then getting upset if people dont follow exactly. to his credit Eddie is flexible and acknowledges the ambiguity. maybe we should follow her lead rather than getting undergarments in a twist.

The gender debate is so divisive and really got out of control now.

For such a minor issue, the powers that be that are pushing it must be rubbing their hands reveling in their genius.

There are biological men and women. It's the most binary thing anyone can think of.

Eddie Izzard is a man that dresses up like women do, culturally. He may regard his gender as a woman, and fair enough, it's his right to call himself what ever he likes. Equally if people refuse to believe that men can be women if they decide to be, their view should be respected too.

As long as nobody gets physically hurt, then we should be allowed to have our own views on things, and discuss them publicly without being lambasted.

I would bet, that in the future, this transgender trend that is happening right now will be regarded as a strange quirk of the current age, being pushed by forces we don't fully understand yet.
