Crofts rejects Wales call-up

I agree. He's turned down a pointless match - Lichtenstein away - for a team with no chance of qualifying.

But as you say, he'll be first to moan when they have a chance to qualify and he's overlooked time and again. And even if he isn't, it's still a poor show - he's just taking the easy option.

In my eyes you either want to play international football or you don't.

Lets flip the situation on it's head, say next year during the euro qualifiers we have a really important league game the same weekend as Wales have a qualifier, if Crofts goes off to play for Wales are the same people going to be moaning that he doesn't care about his employers who pay his wages week in week out.....

...actually don't answer that I know what it'll be.

IMO Crofts has shown complete lack of ambition to further his career.

I'm not sure I agree with that, but I would say that he's let his country down. I hate all those shit excuses that players give for missing such matches. It was such a breath of fresh air to see "Stevie G" absolutely shitting it last year when he pulled out of a friendly with a sniffle, only for England to win 4-1 with Lampard running the show.

And let's be clear, no sane person at the Albion would think badly of him if he chose to answer his nation's call.

I see what you're saying - but I can see why Crofts has done this.
He wants to play for Brighton, he wants to stay in the first team picture.
Your game against the pikeys has more riding on it than the Liechtenstein game.
If he'd been named in the original squad and come back to play for Brighton then I'd feel a bit peeved.
We should be good enough to beat Liechtenstein with or without Crofts imho.

I kind of get the feeling that if another manager, other than Toshack, had been in charge and asked Crofts to come and play for Wales he might have gone.

Think you need to take into consideration the fact that he may have been on the bench for Wales, he might not have got on anyway, and you never know Toshack may have said i need you as cover.
So he goes to Lichtenstein, Honoured that he has been called up for his country he doesnt get any time on the pitch and while hes sitting on the bench at Tranmere and subsequent games watching Alan Navarro strut his stuff for a Brighton side that has suddenly hit form and has finally gelled, he thinks oh well at least im a Welsh international.
Then months down the line when Brighton are pushing for the play offs and Crofts is fed up of not getting in the team, he gets overlooked by Wales for a friendly against Scotland because hes not in the Brighton first team, thats it he thinks and puts in a Transfer request.

If only he hadnt gone to Lichtenstein.

All hypothetical i know, but i for one think he made the right call.
