I'm delighted and I think he's better than the other options e.g Trotter. He's proved he can perform consistently at this level, and cheaper too.

Happy to see a midfield with Crofts, Bridcutt, Vicente, LuaLua/Buckley.
Sparrow and Harley will be decent cover.

Still need a top quality striker though, I see Hull will probably get rid of McLean. Although he's not exactly what we're looking for I think he'd be decent at the right price.

The more I think about it - the happier I am. It is bloomin' difficult to find a player for that role - and Crofts was the first one we has since Hammond left (without opening that old debate).

Sparrow could have done it - and maybe still will, but Crofts is a cut above, and will be a better player for his years at Norwich.

He will hold and move the ball without giving it away and compromising our defence and he will chip in with a few goals- we know that because we have seen him do it and we know it is exactly what we have been lacking. God bless the good ships Dicker and Sparrow and all who sail in them(and very handy they will be in reserve along with Harley) but how many times last season did they stop our forward movement in its tracks and send us scurrying into chaotic defence by giving the ball away in key areas of the pitch? Great signing but because he isn't a "name" and doesn't come with "flair" stamped across his headband some people are going to be naturally disappointed. I think we can rest assured that he will do everything we need and expect of a box-to-box midfield powerhouse

edit: while we are on the subject spare a thought for poor old Gillingham who let him go for nothing through abysmal man management. Sad days for them to see him doing so well but I guess they have more to worry about after their equally disgraceful tretament of Trolley McCammon - the club found guilty of racial discrimination and presumably going to face FA charges as a result

I'm delighted that we have resigned Crofts. Admittedly it is not the most thrilling and exciting signing we could have made, but he represents a very important piece in BHA jigsaw, without which we would not be complete.

This has been a very good off-season so far, experienced players coming in and filling areas of serious need on the team. In my view we have now successfully addressed the serious gaps in the team and we are in a far stronger position to start this season compared to last.

I am not too fussed about the procurement of a new striker as I think the other additions to our squad will make life easier for the ones we have already.

Good work by the management this summer, I'm very pleased indeed.

poll pretty clear

Was it my imagination that quite a few seemed pretty underwhelmed yesterday when this happened? Only one underwhelmed so far and that was a mistake :lolol:

I'm in that happy/pleased bracket that has been omitted.

Much as I'd have been delighted if Trotter had been unveiled, I'd have that nagging doubt that he might only play well occasionally. Crofts is and has always been consistent.

Same.

I was initially underwhelmed however the more it sinks in the happier I become. Crofts previous experience of our club in 09/10 is of an improving team but one where the onus was more on him to deliver from midfield.

We know have Vicente, Bridders, Buckley, Lua Lua, Noone, Barnes and Dicker as competition/support. I think this could turn out very well.

You only have to look at how Bradley Johnson upped his game for Norwich in more ellusive company to know how much this can work.

I'm delighted.

We know him and we know he fits our team. We also know he gives it all on the pitch.

And i was gutted when he left us.

I think he is a good signing, has gathered up a lot of experiance in time at Norwich and looks leaner and meaner now. As for people who say they would prefer Trotter, are they basing that on his performance at the Amex last year, which was very good. My Millwall supporting mate who watches him week in and week out seems to think he had an exceptional game that night and had an average season last year at best. Surely if he was that good every week some one would have picked him up by now. Looking forward to seeing Crofty back in the blue and white stripes........excellent signing.

Think its a great signing. A fine player and a good example of why you should never burn your bridges with your old club. He is just what we need in midfield. Welcome back Crofty.

How could anyone not be happy? This is a Premiership class midfielder who is a far better player now than when he left.

He'll dominate in this division imo. Just the player we need to release our flair players a bit more.

The one thing people are missing about Crofts rejoining is the fact that Vicente will now be completely free to roam as Crofts will do the work of two players to fill in for him and both will cause so many problems from midfield.

Id be shitting myself if i was playing against Brighton this year, as we not only have an outstanding starting XI, but our bench is also full of bloody good squad players...
