**** me you couldn't have written that script better.

Just wow!

I’ll say it again, what a day of football that was. It’s not that ‘you couldn’t write it’, of course you could, it’s just that the script is so perfect that it would lack credibility. I mean, this is something straight out of the godawful football movie trilogy (how is it even a trilogy!?) that is ‘Goal!’.

When Pogba’s goal went in, that was game over. 99.999% of the time. It’s the 0.001% that makes football the game it is. Breathless stuff.

As an aside, France will get pelters for this but I thought Switzerland conducted themselves brilliantly. To have the energy and audacity to come back from 3-1 down after squandering the chance to go 2-0 up minutes earlier takes another level of mental strength.

Spain will be relieved at this result tonight. I’m not sure they should be.

Delighted for Sommer. Absolute servant to the Bundesliga and such a solid keeper.

Heavyweights starting to fall. Typical Euros. Only one left in the bottom half and Belgium looking shaky in the top.

I'd say it's Italy or Spain. But it's the Euros.

People are being very pessimistic about our chances. We are at home for goodness sakes.

And quite likely to be the game of the tournament, at least from a neutral football-lover's perspective.

Well, that aged well...

Croatia & Spain: We've had the match of the tournament.

France & Switzerland: Hold our beer.

Spain and Italy loving this. It’s one of their’s tournament now.

Don’t fancy Belgium then? Whoever comes through that side of the draw will be the favourites by virtue of the path they’ve had to follow but if, and of course it’s a massive IF, we can beat the Germans tomorrow night we will become strong tournament favourites.

That’s not necessarily because we’re better than Belgium, Italy or Spain but because only one of those three can make the final, and then anyone has a puncher’s chance - see Greece 2004.

England are now the second highest ranked team in the tournament - when was the last time we could say that? Genuine question. The sides ranked 1st, 3rd and 4th are all on the other side of the draw.

This is a huge opportunity for England, bigger than three years ago in my opinion. A lot rests on tomorrow. It’s a massive game for so many reasons.
