he's the 10th best paid player in the world and is probably the 2nd best.........it's all relative so maybe he has a point

He's not going to make it to No.1 in "The Most loved Player " rankings... I think Booby Moore or Bobby Charlton still have a grip on that one.

If you put that against the money being paid by the Russian club Anzi Makhachkala to has beens like Eto he probably has a point

Read one article that Eto is on $52 million a year. How many Man City players are on £200,000 a week and half of them don't play.

I wonder how the Spanish taxpayers will take to him. What is the unemployment rate in some regions, 20%?

A crass way to engineer more money, when I would imagine he is exceedingly wealthy already.

30% in certain rural areas (parts of Galicia, for example) and running at 50% (yes, that's 50%) nationwide in 16- to 24-year-olds. This preening man-child has no idea he's born, regardless of what's making him 'sad'. They can tell him to f*** off to Anzi for all I care. If Man City make a genuine bid I'll be extremely disappointed - our league is a better place without that fucknut.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is pissed at the Madrid fans and the press over there. A slight blip in one game and he is boo'd. The press are on his back constantly. They demand perfection from him and if they don't get it, they are instantly on his back. The problem is he was so used to being the golden child at United, where no matter what, win lose or draw, the fans sang his name and still do. He has moved to a country that demands absolute perfection and he cannot deliver that 100% of the time, no one on earth is capable of that.

Anyone else heard the suggestions that he's sad due to it being the 7th anniversary of his father's death? I believe it's tomorrow. I can only speak for myself, but that'd certainly play on my mind, rich or not.

Nope. He said explicitly that it is 'professional reasons'.

Because money is the be all and end all to our problems. It's like the saying goes, money buys you happiness.

He's saying he's unhappy because he'd like a better contract in my opinion.

How can you possibly have an opinion on something you know absolutely nothing about?

You have no idea whatsoever whether it's a money problem or not. But it's a great opportunity to invent something to suit your agenda, isn't it?!

Naturally, if he thinks he should be paid more, then he's due all the criticism in the world. But please wait until you know the facts and don't make them up.

At least he hasn't pulled out his classic "I'm being treated like a slave" quote this time!

Was watching a program on Sky earlier, might have been revista la liga or something, they mentioned that his release clause is £1BILLION, absolutely ridiculous.

He must have the same agent as Winifred Zahaha.

I think he's unhappy about the ambition being shown at Real. He hates that Iniesta beat him to the "Best Player in Europe" award, he thought that was his after last season and the Euros but Iniesta beat him to it rather than Messi. His pride his hurt, that's it. Nothing to worry about, he'll be happy enough. I find it hard to feel sorry for Ronaldo.

Iniesta AND Messi finished ahead of him for that award - he's not even the 2nd best player in the World anymore, haha.

Anyone else heard the suggestions that he's sad due to it being the 7th anniversary of his father's death? I believe it's tomorrow. I can only speak for myself, but that'd certainly play on my mind, rich or not.

Wouldn't he have been like this for the last 6 anniversary's as well?

Never really liked his attitude on the pitch, everything has to be about him or he's not interested. Didn't bother celebrating any Portugal goals in the Euro's if they were scored by any other players. Not sure what this issue is about, but he has always lacked class on the pitch and that's why he'll never be as great as Messi, Iniesta et al

Nope. He said explicitly that it is 'professional reasons'.

On Football Weekly it was strongly suggested by a journo that the "professional reasons" are the fact he was not allowed time off for the anniversary of his father's death.

Surely he's involved with Portugal this week, and so it's not a decision from madrid to not let him have the time off?
