Because money is the be all and end all to our problems. It's like the saying goes, money buys you happiness.

I never suggested it was, old boy. But perhaps he'd care to swap with one of those unemployed people and experience their life for a bit, to see just how serious his 'professional problems' are. We're in an age where many people consider themselves lucky to have a job - any job, notwithstanding long hours, shit conditions, and a dull or unpleasant role. But he's 'sad' playing football for one of the world's top clubs. I'm asking for the bloke to show a bit of perspective, that's all.

And he is a preening man-child - his on-pitch demeanour is absolutely repellent, and I strongly suspect it would be regardless of how much he's earning or who he's playing for.

Edit: Just seen Mellotron's post:
On Football Weekly it was strongly suggested by a journo that the "professional reasons" are the fact he was not allowed time off for the anniversary of his father's death.

If that's the case, that's a different matter entirely. Time will tell.

Leigull beat me too it. The anniversary is this week (international fixtures week) so not sure what Madrid could have done about it. I'm sure the reasons will come out soon enough. Still, no reason for him to even mention anything in the press, he is just bringing this all on himself, like the attention seeker he is.

Maybe he is still sulking about the penalty shoot out in the Euros where he wanted to take the last/glory penalty, but the Portugese got eliminated before he could step up.
