Might I suggest that the referee is hardly likely to favour a team throwing racial abuse at him.

This wouldn't be very professional, but nobody should have to endure that and sadly it is something people remember. It only takes one or two to give us all a bad name.

He is in the top 30 of national league refs on the rate the ref site.

That says a lot about UK standards of refereeing

Didn't hear any of the racist stuff, so suggest was a v small minority (which doesn't make it acceptable of course!).

Plenty of well-deserved abuse of the line after goal 3 tho.

In all honesty we weren' that bad, kind of game where 1st goal was going to be v important - Crewe let us pass the ball aroun dquite a bit - if they'd ever had to chase the game we'd have had lots of space.

Their first looked a v soft free kick decision, 2nd taken well by their striker after a lucky bounce, 3rd was a long way away but given that the entire team stopped after their guy pulled the ball back suggests something was up.

Real killer was the missed chances. Kerry with free header from a corner (over), Charlie with v v v free header from a peach of a cross by Leon (wide), Charlie again just wide from a corner.

Leon didn't look happy with being subbed but didn't seem to over-react too much. If your team was 2-0 down and you're a striker then I think you'd probably expect to stay on the pitch. Jake did well when he came on, but was also guilty of missing one that he should have scored with.

Given the choice of winning yesterday or Tues, I'd have taken Cardiff every time - don't have that choice now!

Ernest, be very careful. If you have a go at Spicy, you have a go at me. And we all know that I OWN you totally. So do shut up with all your pathetic negative whining before I get really nasty.

The only way you are a real fan is if by some chance you can be plugged in and go round and round.

Thanks, Juan, but I had Ernest beaten when I called him "sunshine". He quivered at the thought of that.:lolol:

I thought we outplayed Crewe for 75% of the match and deserved at least a draw.
The ref gifted them 2 goals.
We are certainly lacking a striker and our defence looked shaky. Kerry appeared very slow and both Danny and Reid looked exposed at times

Positives.
Away support was great and we kept it going.
I thought the team kept working and on another day it could have been a very close finish. Charlie had an excellent 2nd. half chance to put a close range header in from a Leon cross and Jake could also have scored near the end. Albert worried them and, like some others on here, I think he looks worth a start. He worries defences and can be very direct on goal ( cracking second half shot pushed round by their goalie).
In the end, Crewe's Jones looked a sharper and more dangerous forward than we have got but it's certainly not a lost cause and I still feel quite hopeful.

the longer the day goes on the more posters put on their rose tinted glasses. I thought we were well beaten yesterday.

Ok we missed a few headers and had a couple of debatable decisions against us but other than the subs, did our forwards have a shot?

Crewe were well organised. In the shadows of many Premiership clubs they are doing a fantastic job. Anyone notice that they are only charging about £4.50 for U16's to watch the Man U cup match?

We had an off day, don't be surprised if we have more off days than "on" days this season.

How many first choice defenders did we have out. ONE.
Start worrying when we are back to full strength, and still losing.

Shots on goal Albion 6-6 Crewe
Shots off goal Albion 6-3 Crewe
Corners Albion 7-0 Crewe

Now I wasn't there but that doesn't sound like being well beaten.

Pretty much agree with much of what has been said already. I didn't hear any racist stuff and the ref was as bad on Sat as he was at Luton earlier this year.

Btw we have never beaten Crewe at Gresty Rd.

As I have been up north for four days I was talking to a Preston fan yesterday (an old mate) and he said watch out for Leeds and off the ball incidents. There were at least 4 nasty fouls that the ref didn't spot.

I thought we had plenty of possession but lacked a cutting edge. Leon and Virgo do not seem to be on the same wavelength, so while there were plenty of flick ons they always went to Crewe defenders, who were excellently organised.

Leon has looked sharper recently, but at this level lacks pace and weight to turn defenders.

Albert should start at home, but think MM has it right putting him on the bench when we are away.

The report on Crewes rivals site makes it sound like we're even worse than Rotherham! They were so nice about last week as well. Here's some of the highlights:

"An almost faultless performance from Dario Gradi's men as the Reds dispose of a very poor Brighton side in some style."

"It was a performance of considerable quality at Gresty Road as the Railwaymen recorded their third successive victory, brushing aside a mediocre Brighton side who were probably the worst team we had faced all season."

"The 1000 or so travelling Seagulls were, in sombre reflection, a mixture of morons, hooligans and foul-mouthed louts evident from the numbers ejected from the ground.

"...the large southern following did nothing but moan throughout despite the obvious competence of the officials"

"...the performance showed all of the hallmarks of a superior team outplaying the opposition."

"...ensured that the Brighton fans ended the game in typical moaning fashion, complaining that either the ball had gone out or there was an offside. Even so it was pretty repetitive after hearing 90 minutes of their whinging"

"I think we have today witnessed a team destined for relegation."

Anybody want to say nice things about them now?
