Does anyone ever learn anything?

The moment we give it the 'we're going to stuff 'em' routine' it backfires. Spectacularly.

"Crewe are the joke team of this division....."

A prime example of tempting fate if ever I've seen one!

Crewe looked a good footballing side both times we played them and I enjoyed watching them going forward today. Well done, and err which was the joke side??:jester:

So... to sum up:

a) Crewe are a :jester: team (37 goals in 17 games conceded  )

b) The Albion have f***-all in attack to punish Crewe's lousy defensive record the way every other fookin team in this division does :nono:

c) Tom Hark is a prize bellend

There, I think that's covered everything. Can I go now?

Crewe are a bogey team and we never beat them?

Which is what I tried to say at the beginning.

Don't give a f***. Like I said WAY up at the top of the thread, Crewe have :jester: stats in defence. The fact that we were so piss-poor in what we laughingly refer to as our attacking play don't change that one little bit. Crewe are also fairly free-scoring which I might have emphasised a bit more - especially as I picked up a few bob by betting on them to win @ 11/4. But they did us a favour in the end by bringing to a head the utter lack of a striker. Plainly pitiful anybody pinning any kind of hopes on all being well when adam virgo is fit enough to return to his makeshift position. What a disgraceful burden to place on the lad's shoulders. The club should be ashamed of itself. No money blahblahblah is complete bollocks, every side from the lowliest under-eights cub-scout side has somebody a bit credible up-front. Else you're cheating the paying public. Piercey isn't a well man. Which we forgive. But we find hard to forgive him not putting ONE SINGLE PASS to a team-mate in the first half. We also find it hard to forgive the manager for making him come out for the second half when he was clearly having a wretched game. We also find it a bit hard to forgive the manager not have a single attacking player in the dug-out. It wasn't a physical game, Jake and Albert might well have relished it, but heigh-ho we'll never know.

Off Yer Knees! :clap2:

I've just come on here for the first time since the weekend, and I can barely believe what I am reading.

It was a bad day at the office, and I think deep down McGhee probably realises that there were some short-comings in his team's performance on Saturday, but for some of us to go on the all-out-attack about him is frankly, ludicrous. The players need to take responsibility for what happened on Saturday as much as McGhee, he doesn't tell them to go out and play like they don't give a shit, which is how the performance came across.

McGhee is right, we don't have the money to sign a centre-forward thats going to get you 15-20 goals a season, and Tom, it will be because it is easier and cheaper to get that type of centre-forward lower down the leagues than it is in the Championship (didn't take a genius to work that out did it?). Having said that, McGhee should have kept his thoughts about the crowd shouting for a centre-forward to himself, it's never good to get involved like that.

For christ's sake everybody chill out, yes we are in the relegation battle, but we always knew we would be, and would anybody have been too surprised if we were in Rotherham's position now? I doubt it. I just want the players to play like they care, and that desire was the one ingredient that was missing Saturday.

Fair enough. But remember last season? We were playing complete toss and saying 'never mind were still fifth'. It was only due to some freak statistical blip that we didn't drop like a stone down that division. Things only got better - and quickly! - when the club finally gave in to the pressure to get a six-foot striker in.
Expect exactly the same to happen this season.

Those that complained about lack of attack should look at the match stats in the Argus

Shots on goal - Albion 5 Crewe 7
Shots off goal - Albion 9 Crewe 4
Corners - Albion 9 Crewe 3

The difference between a loss and a win? Making the shots count? We certainly got some in.
