Anyone who doesnt know anything about this player cant have paid much attention to the championship for the last couple of seasons...question i have ..was this the player we were after before they realised that Orlandi needed a op?

Anyway seems a solid enough player to me...anyone know his 'assist' stats

In the article on the club website, Conway says he quizzed Gordon Greer about the club while they were away on international duty, so it must have been in the works for a little while (don't know when the decision was made on Orlandi's op, though).

I think as we all realise the original poster was just expressing his disappointment in us not signing a big name yet again, however we all know that it is tough us to compete on a financial basis so we have to be realistic just get behind the players we have.
Personally I'm hopeful that the new management can turn the players we have from good players into very good players.

Not really, I literally hadn't heard of the fella until it was announced this afternoon ??? Hope he does well for us.

Surely you must know as you were paying attention to the championship for the last couple of seasons?

I'd like to see his statistics for crosses and assists from his time at CCFC, as wingers should be judged on their goal scoring opportunities created, not goals scored. I remember seeing him a few times and liked the look of him but I'm not going to pretend I know much about him and make a judgment on the basis of his nationality.

Is he match fit for Reading? I sincerely hope he proves OP wrong, bags a goal and an assist.

Well the general consensus on the CCFC forum is that he works hard, will come back and defend and a good crosser, which with Ulloa is ideal. Not the fastest of wingers though but neither was Orlandi

Is this the expectation now? Personally I don't expect us to be signing big names. Orlandi played 20 times for Swansea when the season they won the playoffs and he's one of our best players. Conway played 25 times for Cardiff last season so on paper looks like a very good loan signing.

i actually signed craig conway in 2012 on my football manager 2012 game. He was top assister and top average rating in the team several times over the first few seasons. He helped us to promotion, premier league survival and an fa cup. He's now retired but is still in the brighton all time best 11 and is a well respected coach. He manged the transition from championship to premiership like a true pro too. Can't speak highly enough of him.
If fm12 is as prophetic as i believe it to be then we have made a fantastic signing.

(we also may be signing daniel sturridge and raheem sterling in a few years)

potd :)

I would tell my full back to keep him out hugging the white line then stand on him very close to stop him getting a cross in. On most occasions when he cuts inside and shoots it is wayward and off target but the odd one will be on target. The best of his shots come from a short free kick passed to him. In the past his change of speed has helped but he seems to have lost that, possibly due to not being fit but he is not the force he was when he first arrived. I would be more than happy if he got back to being the player and the threat that he was.
He's not lost his acceleration, that's what makes him so dangerous. We all know what he's going to do when he slowly strolls towards a player but no defender in the division can keep up with him over the first 10 yards. Yes he's pretty raw and over runs it or shoots wildly over/wide but given he doesn't get that much game time the amount of goals and assists he gets is pretty good. It's not as easy as just saying push him out wide and stand him up.

FWIW the stats on Conway suggest he is "busy" more than creative as such.
20 league starts, 6 sub appearances - 2 goals from roughly one attempt per game (50% on target). Draws a lot of fouls though (3 per game approx) which is useful and suggests a ball carrier.

Deadline dates for a striker to join in support of Ulloa (presume it will be Obika when fit) are next Thursday allowing him to complete the pre-Xmas programme and 1st October if we want to keep him until the January transfer window opens.

He has five assists in two years.

Noone has 14. Similar game time too.

Can't believe more isn't being made of the fact, that after waiting weeks for a new player to come in, we got one in a position that we didn't need filling.....We need a striker ffs.

With Orlandi having been injured and now out for 2 months as well as LuaLua carrying an injury I'd say it was a position that needed filling.

Oh FFS keep up at the back! :lolol:

Orlandi is now out for two months and needs cover with someone who can carry and hold the ball and inject pace in the opponents' third.
Kaz is injured (thigh and calf going on his instagram pics) and cannot play a full game at the moment.
We DO need Conway.

We also need a striker - it will be Obika once he is fit (currently has a minor knock)

That would be about right, lets get a striker who is currently injured, sounds perfect.....I'm starting to think the left hand don't know what the right hand is doing. We need a striker and we needed one three games ago. Ulloa is quality but we are playing at the second level of English football not a pub league, it's to easy for opposing managers, stop Ulloa and Brighton don't score. He never had a sniff against Millwall until they went down to ten men. We are so desperate for another attacking threat it's unreal.

I see the doom and gloom merchants are out in force having a pop at a player who will be pulling on an Albion shirt soon,
just because he has the audacity not to be high profile or that well known !!
Or because they personally havent heard of him !! FFS :ffsparr: Unbelievable ...
