rather presumptive isnt it.

we might stay up
southampton might not go down
accrington might not go up

Indeed, but what do you think is more inspirational:

"Do you want to play southampton, or do you want to play Accrington Stanley?"

Or

"Do you want to successfully stay up in this division and, should they get relegated after failing to win enough games to stay up in the championship, Southampton, still Charlton are likely to come down, so probably them as well, or would you prefer to face Accrington stanley, that is, of course, assuming Accrington get the points they require to attain the promotion they look like they might get?"

it was nice to hear all the chants for davies last night, must have helped him with his confidence, played really well, don't help when fans get on a players back.

Seriously? Now not only do we have the example of Guy Butter becoming an Albion legend, the same Guy Butters who was derided by fans and put on ebay for a fiver; the example of Matt Richards being slaughtered during/after the walsall game only to follow up with man of the match candidate performance against Man City, we now have Craig Davie who was slaughtered on Saturday and on Tuesday put in a man of the match worthy performance.

If the player has professional pride and is not a coward, he will recognise that his poor performance inspired the fans to get on his back (even if they did take it to the extreme) and this professional pride and guts will lead a player to step it up, to prove to the fans he is better than that performance.

Often enough, it does help.

Come on the bloke has been UTTER TURD since he joined. 1 good performance does not change that and his strikers goal scoring record is about 1 in 12 games now isn't it ?.

He was one of the best players at both Orient and Scunthorpe. His finishing is poor, but he holds the ball up well and is one of the few players in the squad willing to take on defenders.

Suspect we'll hound him out and he'll become an Andy Ritchie or Ian Muir type of player elsewhere.
