Lynch i could possibly stomach losing because we could use the 500k to bring possibly Bowdich and Whing in permanently.

But Cox would be hard to replace, not just because he's a great little free scoring midfielder but also you can't replace cult heroes so easily.

If we really are prepared to sell one of our most promising players for just £250K. it's a strong indication, in my view, that the club is in desperate financial straits. £250K is an absolute joke and a major piss take, if true, by Sunderland. No doubt, however, they see the club as something of a beggar - grateful for anything it can get.

At the risk of invoking the spirit of Mr Kanchelskis, I'll repeat what I said on the Lynch thread:-

The financial crisis at the moment isn't so much about "Falmer" as the half million pounds across the season that we are losing because crowds are so small.

"Kids for a Quid" won't solve that problem. A tempting offer for one player would.

I hope no-one's expecting the money from the WHU game to be spent on anything other than plugging a budget deficit.
