What gets me with a situation like this is, what exactly is Cox supposed to do? He's moved the ball, and is faced with the flying studs of the centre half. If he leaves his leg there he could get badly injured. If he jumps out of the way he's branded a cheat.

From 30 yards away I say clear foul. Not convinced it was in the box though.

Looked like a penalty to me. He enticed the tackle and went over when it came. Nothing wrong with that.

So, by your own admission there was no foul play by the Carlisle defender and Cox was the sole engineer of the incident? So, by your own admission it was not a penalty.

I think it is also worth pointing out here that there is a difference between mere contact, and foul play.

I have watched the incident on the video replay, on slow-mo, frame-by-frame advance.

IT WAS A STONEWALL, CAST-IRON, NAILED ON PENALTY

Cox was completely taken out by their defender, who made an very clumsy two foted slid

Yes, his arms did go up as he fell, but after the challenge had been made, not before.

I only hope the ref is man enough to admit he cocked up and contact the FA to rescind the card

You can't rescind yellow cards. Only reds.

The ref can - the FA can't. The FA can overrule him on reds, but not yellows. Or something like that.

Hmmm maybe. He could not submit the yellow card in his match report but thats submitted very quickly so he'd have to see the incident very quickly. Hopefully he can but I doubt it.

I dont care if its a Brighton player doing it or a Premeirship fairy doing it, DIVING IS WRONG AND SHOULD NOT BE PART OF FOOTBALL!

Full stop, Cox deserves everything he gets!

Ref has to contact the FA to rescind the yellow -

Once he sees the video he will know he is wrong.

Only risk is he may not tell the FA to pull it because it could damage his reputation

It did look an appalling challenge and a penalty, the thing that has got Cox into trouble was an element of simulation in his tumble, his fall was just too unnatural and exaggerated. Oh well, he'll just have to learn to do that better, pointless banging on about the morality of it, the best players do dive and they do it in a way that is convincing to the naked eye, Michael Owen built an entire career around it. I know this sounds very cynical, but our players should study video of the best divers and learn the lessons. Bad diving is the real evil :lolol:

On second thoughts, if there is an element of morality in what I'm saying, it's this - good diving is all about exposing bad defending - because it is bad defenders that give players the opportunity. The classic example was Grosso and the Aussie defender in the world cup, appalling challenge, Grosso simulated his dive and it was near perfect to the naked eye and every ref worth his salt has to give it. It's only when you slow mo it, you see the artistry at work. But I back Grosso because he was exposing bad defending.
