I call 8 shirtless and maskless guys playing basketball all crowded around one net a blatant breach of COVID’s legal and moral rules, hence the thread and implied advice to avoid. I don’t care how lonely they might be.

I agree it’s a breach of the rules, but I think the rules regarding outdoor fitness are totally wrong, they’ve said footballers basically have zero risk of transferring the virus and the benefit of fitness surely outweigh the risk?

I’ve just grown tired of snitchers and do gooders, we’ve all done things we probably shouldn’t have done during covid at some point, humans are programmed to need human interaction, better they do it there than at each other’s houses.

People do not need to be gathering in garden centres. Full stop. There are plenty of covid safe ways to meet. Or you can make a video call. Put the radio on, phone a mate, meet a mate outdoors. Plenty of ways to avoid loneliness without risking lives and drastically extending the time we have to be in lockdown.

Oh come on, do you really think Garden centres are driving the infection rates?

Call them - they will likely put you on the vulnerable list and you’ll have better access to slots.
Thanks and apologies if I misled you. I joined Tesco Delivery Saver in the summer to protect myself and Mrs Earle and get better access to slots. Works a treat and I have 4 weeks slots booked at any time. My point was that not only key workers etc should have access to slots, but everyone, who like me is a nervous Nelly where Covid is concerned. The supermarkets have upped their game but still more capacity needed.

One day something might happen in your life when you are grateful of a snitch, or even worse a grass.

£5.50 extra on top of a minimum order for some people will be a push if they live alone/ are furloughed so already working on a restricted budget of 80% of their usual take home

Just out of interest i just logged on to Tesco to have a look and my local one doesn't have any slots left this month

I would have no issue with the army on the street, although they are never armed when carrying out logistical ops and only very rarely armed when policing civilians. It would be a good measure to take. But I can see why some would object.

Other than the NI troubles, the UK just doesn’t and will never use the army to enforce laws. The French do it, but it goes against custom here. The one third of the nation ignoring current laws would have a new enemy for life, our military. Hence why no serious UK politician has called for the army to enforce the new laws.

Yes. Popular with the retired generations who are vulnerable, dither around chatting to friends, and like to ignore regulations. Garden centres are not essential. Boris just doesn't like to alienate his core voter base. It makes no sense to keep them open.

Can't argue with that. Police will do.

Any supermarket should be a no go right now. Loads of people swanning around in them as if a mask is all they need to do to fight this. The amount of bellends using supermarkets when they can instead get the food delivered, really grinds my gears.
If you don't need to get it delivered, it leaves delivery spaces for people who are isolating or have covid.

You're tired of people doing good?

I get that entirely but I was responding to slot availability, not cost. We pay the £7 a month, so it’s highly cost effective (those charges indicated don’t get added)- 5/6 trips of an hour each, plus petrol and, most importantly (with the covidiots evident in the supermarket) covid risk all avoided for just £7 is a complete no-brainer for me.

Need to be booking 3 weeks ahead ideally to get a good choice of slot. It’s not difficult - you don’t need to do your order, just book the slot. Order can be changed up to the night before. Simple planning really.

Deliveroo has tonnes of drivers which are growing in numbers since the lockdown. There's no way you'll be waiting more than an hour.

100% agree. They sell pet food though I guess, so are ‘essential’......that should be click an collect and handed out in the car park.

They are being used as meeting points (I know several people doing so)

If you really think harden centres drive infection rates then I really don’t know what to say, if people are using garden centres as a place to meet, taking away the garden centre wouldn’t stop that, they’d just go to each other’s houses, indoor meetings for long periods drive infection rates, it’s the same reason why Flu spreads like wildfire in winter but not in summer, household settings and work places are the infection rate drivers.

Not people playing basketball or going to a garden centre.

Depends where you live. I managed to nab a delivery slot for a relative in Sussex three weeks away. on the day of the lockdown announcement.

It was one of two left.

Slots above are fulfilled by the Crawley store. All it needs is a bit of forward planning.......we tend to book 3 weeks ahead anyway - we know we need a shop every week at least [emoji2369]

Seriously? It's genuinely no wonder the rate is climbing daily with people like you out there. I really don't want to be rude but mate, are you seriously this daft?

If being indoors spreads viruses, which it does, why is it better to then go out and spread it round? Jesus wept.

I'd like to nominate my flat on a Saturday night as a covidiot hotspot. Not because anyone outside the household comes round but to create a further barrier to visitors

People shouldn't be meeting, end of.

Even before Covid struck, loads of people were being killed by other viruses. We can't just let that continue like we used to. Once covid19 gets controlled better, I really do hope we stick with this new normal approach of everyone staying indoors at all time, so we never go back to the old ways when people were catching flues, colds and now Covid19 whilst everyone else just went about their business not giving a toss. It took for Covid for us to realise we can't ever live like that again. This new way is so much safer, it makes you realise how stupid we all were back in the old days. We socialise on forums/social media now so there's really no need to go out in the future for risk taking fun. I'm actually really enjoying watching football on the TV so I definitely won't ever be going back to the Amex again and I do hope most people on here feel the same now they know how dangerous those forms of entertainment were.
