brighton and hove IS geographically in east sussex

surely thats why all b+h addresses are marked as east sussex?

That's just the system the postal service use.

It's not GEOGRAPHICALLY in East Sussex as it's not IN East Sussex. It's to the WEST of it.

oh i just don't KNOW anymore

anyway, WEST SUSSEX has never had a professional football team:)

Yes it has, but not a league team, which was the question.

Right, listen up.

The Albion DO play in East Sussex. You can shove your local authority boundaries up your collective arses.

Due to the 'ever, ever' nature of the original question, Newcastle United count.

Oh, and the county I live in is technically 'Hampshire and the Isle of Wight'. The IOW is therefore NOT a county on its own, and also does not count.

So West Sussex then.

It's not, part of it is to the SOUTH of it. Hence the fact that when you drive NORTH out of Brighton, you drive into West Sussex. There are signs and EVERYTHING.

It's to the West of East Sussex and to the East of West Sussex.

So that must mean it is in Sussex which is a county.
