Westmoreland made up half of what is now Cumria - the other half was Cumberland.

Carlise United, Workington and Barrow were all in Cumberland - there haven't been any clubs from Westmoreland ever to play in the league.

But if Westmorland doesn't exist anymore does it count?

are we ALL agreed that this is the FINAL LIST?

Sorry, back to the drawing board. It's a little known fact that Land's End did actually qualify for Europe in 1903.

Brighton and Hove isnt a COUNTY though - is it?!!!

No, it's not. That's the point.

Although I retract my original remark as of course the Albion were once in East Sussex.

But Brighton and Hove surely is in the county of East Sussex - as Hove is??

My brain hurts

Politically, it's on its own. As far as the Royal Mail is concerned, it's in East Sussex. As far as Norman Baker is concerned, it's a nasty creeping levitathan whic has wholly swallowed Lewes. As far as geography goes, the line on the map keeps moving...
