Heard all this for years but nothing much has ever happened.
We were promised one when the old ice rink closed and was demolished, and Rank (I think) built the Brighton Centre. We all know what happened after that.
Call me an old cynic, but I'll believe it when I see it.
"What I'll be asking for are three things.
"One, is a site, now that may be in private hands locally.
Two, is a developer, someone that can come along with the finances to build it.
And three, is an operator, someone who has a viable business plan to operate an ice rink as other ice rinks operate around the country."
He wants to find a site that is likely privately owned.
He wants a rich developer to come in and buy the site and build an ice rink.
He wants the development to be a success.
Genius, I can't believe no one has thought of this route to success before.
Let's hope it's designed for ice hockey not like the replacement for the SS Brighton the round top rank rink which was a stitch up and also could be used for other big events. I would like to see the Tigers and the Brighton Bears rise from the ashes.
Classic Brighton. Absolutely f*ck all will happen on this for another 2 decades. There will be a nimby somewhere who will manage to hold everything up (as always).
