I’d love to know the % of B & H residents who for whatever reason don’t pay the full amount of Council Tax

I’m ok with it. Pay rises for staff, social services, recycling & refuse …. vital cogs.

The water bill increase is the shocker.
Yeah, 5% seems like nothing compared to the 43% increase in my water bill next month. I'll be paying more for water for a household of two adults than I pay for Gas and Electric...

Depends if you want your bins collected or not.

Constant cuts to direct government funding of local authorities means that the money they require to provide your services for you has to be found somewhere else.

Have you moaned and refused to withhold payment to your local garage when their service charges rose this year, probably by 5% or more (32% in 2023 apparently)? Those refuse collection vehicles also have to be repaired and serviced - so the bills to local authorities are also going up by >5% for this sort of thing. And all the other added costs from electricity / gas price increases. All have to be met.

Where do they find that money from if not by putting up the council tax?

The town traffic in Worthing is a nightmare whilst roadworks are ongoing to install a more efficient heating system for the town hall, museum and art gallery.

But they don't appear to have considered the increase in emissions from vehicles stuck in traffic jams, nor the adverse impact on the town's economy as a result of delays in deliveries etc.

And if we have this disruption, why not prioritise the hospital and schools rather than making sure the councillors are all warm and toasty? It's not a good look.

For as long as I can remember the police element of Council Tax has always had the highest % increase.

And yet every year, the service gets worse.
Constant increases to policing whilst social care bits get way less. One can't help but think if we spent more on social care the need for more and more police funding might wane.

Re my council tax….theres a separate charge for “Adur Special Expenses” ….must research what this actually refers to.

biggest increase is Sussex Police at 5.5%

I’d pay far more police, the reduction in front line personnel since 2010 was a huge mistake imho. Now next to no traffic cops, shoplifting gangs can do as they please.
