You'll be the first to whinge when your bins aren't collected.
do you know the "actual" cost per household per week for a weekly bin collection ? i think it is in the region of @ £2 - i would drive it to the tip myself if it would reduce may coucil tax bill by 5%

i think that around 60% of the coucil budget goes on pension / debt / wages

if B&H council was a private business, they would look to make personnel savings first

Services are inherently labour intensive, so that’s natural.

I think overall it goes up about 5% here. That's about £125 a year or £10 a month on my bill. Not much really and worth it to protect adult social care.

Adult social care should be a national issue not a council one.

Too much of council money goes to it.

Our towns and cities need so much investment that the councils can't afford, and the main reason for this, and the reasons our bills go up so much every year, is social care.

Wasn't 'Not a penny more' a key labour pledge? Or is the black hole a way to ignore the manifest, charge you more tax and send more overseas?

Council tax in BHCC has been rising at 5% for years under national and local governments of various colours. Making a city run smoothly and trying to help the less fortunate, costs.

Which departments, oh knowledgeable one? Schools? Adult Social Care? Transport? Public Health? Parks and Sports Centres? Housing?

And, for the record,
i think that around 60% of the coucil budget goes on pension / debt / wages

Is the most loaded Daily Mail, Trump style misleading comment every to appear of NSC. Which is saying something. Tacking on wages as if it were third on that list.

I guess not everyone can do that.

But even if they could, it's clearly lots more efficient for one lorry to come round every to house than for every person in the city to try to access the tip every two weeks.

Personally i'd rather pay more council tax for better services.

nothing to state that the coincil tax is allocated to anything - they can spend it how they want

£195.4M / 278K residents = £702pp

This is the bottom line for me, a lot of the services go to those far less fortunate than me. Whenever cuts are made, it's always the items which serve the more vulnerable that get the chop.

That's nice. The question was, which of the named departments would you remove personnel from without impacting their ability to perform their function? Which was your suggestion.

synergy of departments for a start, why do they duplicate roles in Hove as well as in brighton ?
why do we still maintain hove town hall AND Brighton town hall ?
Why do we pay for transport between the 2 ? (C Lucas used to take taxis between BTH and HTH and not the bus)
freeze on pay rises like the rest of us
reverse brain dead ideas - for example Waterhall GC used to be a net conribuitor to the council coffers (rates, taxes etc) - but "re-wilding" the area has turned into an actual COST to the council ( ask how much they pay to transport sheep in to keep the grass down & the ranger that permently lives in the old club house) - let alone the additional car jounneys that local glofers now make when they cannot player there - how much carbon has the 3 foot tall grass actually "locked-in" ?

And you can bet the sheep took taxis, at our expense .

What do you think local authorities have been doing for the last 15 years?

Paying for MPs who don't actually work for the council to take taxis, apparently.

Someone else feel free to talk to this loon but wait until he finds out that East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council (Both Tory) have also increased their council tax by 4.99%. I am guessing they have sheep, shared Town Halls and Green MPs as well.
