So you think that supporting the RNLI is worthy.
Money is being raised on this thread for the RNLI and may continue to do so.
But you are trying to send it to the pit by banging on about migrants, again, but there are other threads to do this if you must.
Can't we just delete the posts and keep it on this board please.
Sometimes I give up with some on here.

The 'genius' is a man of the 1950s. Has a thing about foreigners and the British 'way of life'. He can't help himself. I don't think that calling him out will get him what he wants - this thread put in the pit. We shall see. If he succeeds I suggest he be chased around NSC and held to account for this sort of tomfoolery until he has nowhere to go, but go.

Our tree has an abundance of plums this year, so to deal with the excess Mrs T contacted out street whatsapp group (that we started as a support sustem at the beginning of Covid) and asked if anyone would like her to make them some plum crimble crumble. Seven said yes. Mrs T delivered her first this evening. Our neighbour was delighted and asked how much she owed us. 'Nothing; but you could make a donation to the RNLI to piss off he racists' said Mrs T. The suggestion was met with much enthusiasm. ??? :lolol:

NSC mods really are a different breed and take the definitions of courage, selflessness, humanity and hope to whole new levels.

The fact that mods are all unpaid volunteers too is mind-blowing and some of the utter shit they unhesitatingly read defies belief. Hard to think of a group of men more deserving of our respect and support.

There’s a brilliant documentary - Saving lives at Sea - on which they often have contributions from amazingly brave FEMALE crew members.

We’ve been away with limited internet access, so didn’t realise all this was going on - was aware of Farage’s original silly comment. Love this thread, my daughter has just shown me the RNLI video - excellent and very moving.

Just going over to donate:bowdown:

Apart from being over 20 years out of date/wrong the only undeniable truth we can ascertain from our posting history is you are a grade A snowflake , unable to cope with alternative views (scientist committed to finding the truth my hairy arse) plus you would always vote for someone with a red rosette be it Blair or Corbyn ...

At the risk of an infraction, you're quite the obnoxious little prick, aren't you?

As has been said, leave that kind of shit for threads in the pit, or are you incapable of doing so?

St Mary’s and Sennen Cove RNLI volunteers battle Storm Evert

RNLI volunteer crew from St Mary’s and Sennen Cove spent the night at sea last night battling Storm Evert to assist a number of yachts in difficulty around the Isles of Scilly.

Fair point, in all those desperate life threatening situations you describe, it seems perfectly reasonable to travel across several safe countries jumping in an unsafe boat to travel across one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world to get to the UK. Whereas an economic migrant ...

Some will be economic migrants.

I struggle to get annoyed about it. Just makes me feel fortunate really.

I wasn't born into an impoverished country. My parents didn't struggle to put food on the table. I wasn't going to die from a curable disease. I didn't have to work in a factory from the age of five. We didn't have to worry about insurgents destroying our village or me being kidnapped to become a child soldier. There was no exploitation of our labour by wealthier nations who wanted cheap shoes and other products. So I've never felt the desire to go elsewhere. Although until last year that facility was available to me without challenge.

If some of the above had applied to me I might just desperately try to do so. The hope that I could be like those others who had all that privilege just because they fell out the right vagina. I'd feel it was unfair in a universal sense. Why them and not me ? And all of this discrimination overseen by someone who's family did manage to achieve a new life in the way I desire, and didn't go to the neighbouring country.

No, I can't get upset about those who make the crossing, I'm just glad it wasn't me.

When some local people were up in arms about the council taking Syrian refugees, after all that happened it made my gut wrench. Two of my best friends in my early years were from Ghana and Chile. We were close to a Sudanese family. Sorry, I find it hard to be hostile. When I grew up I saw them as equal. Maybe not so much as an adult, because by then my mind had been distorted by messages of antipathy. But I'm glad I've challenged it and those days have slowly come back.

People should ask themselves under what circumstances would they take themselves and their families away from their home, extended family, friends and put themselves in the hands of people smugglers. I mean what would make you do it?

I appreciate we’re in a culture war and the lines seem to be drawn but have a little empathy. Some see ours as a Christian country - well this is a time to show some compassion.

We are the sixth largest economy in the world. We can deal with it.

I don't think anyone thinks these people aren't desperate. But it's pretty naive to just accept anyone into this country and assume things will be fine and this country has enough resources to cope with it. Even the border force at the moment is under resourced !!

1930's then. That makes a bit more sense as to why you are clearly unable to think and just post atagonistic crap on a thread that is raising money for a charity that saves many lives every day.
To be honest I feel so very sorry for you that you feel that you have to spew out your hatred on such a thread.

Well resource it. Provide legitimate routes into our great country. Process applications in a timely manner. Treat desperate people with humanity and dignity. Show our country at its best. We have sufficient resources, we choose not to use them. And the resources we have do not appear to be used either efficiently or humanely. Don’t point the finger at the poor sods in the boats, or those trying to stop their fellow human beings from drowning. Point the finger at those in positions of responsibility who prefer culture war to solving an actual real life problem. We are a mature democracy. We can do this.

Very well said.
Many of them are families, the parent(s) are often professionals, often in healthcare and yet they put their kids lives on the line, pay criminals to help them and run a massive risk, and why, because they want to give themselves and their children the best possible life.
They are fleeing a country that they would much prefer to stay in, most are honest decent hard working people ( not rapists)
I wish people would just think how desperate they must be and put themselves in that posistion for just 5 minutes.
Try not eating or drinking for 2 days to realise how a starving child who does not eat for weeks feels.
Why would anyone not want to at least help people who are so worse off than themselves.

There are legitimate routes into the country. These people refuse to use them, either that or the legitimate routes don't apply to them. If they are genuine asylum seekers then they can apply for asylum. Most aren't though, they are economic migrants that pay a lot of money to these traffickers.

If you think there should be open border where anyone can just come in then this country would be in an even worse state than it is now. You keep saying we have sufficient resources, but it's clear we don't. Most public services are under resourced. Unless you want a huge tax hike, or this country to be in even bigger debt, then you're living in a fantasy land.

It’s clear we do have the resources just not the will. There is no need for the scare story of anyone coming into the country. Don’t frighten yourself. Even in the EU that was never the case. We could have had controls over length of stay for EU citizens we didn’t have the controls. An ID card would have helped. But that’s by the by.

Let’s face it. Currently this is not many people’s fantasy land. But I do think we can do better, we can be a better country than we are now. It’s like you don’t believe in our country. Have a little faith.

Don't feel sorry. He smirks while he does it. That's why I used to refer to him as the prancing ninny before I put him on ignore. He occasionally posted something sensible but I'd not buy a broken watch just because it was right twice a day.

To apply for asylum in the UK, you must have left your country of origin, and be unable to go back for fear of persecution. People must be physically present in the UK to claim asylum. It is not possible to apply for asylum via a UK embassy, or to apply for a visa for the purpose of coming to seek asylum in the UK.

If they are from a country that requires a Visa of some sort for entry to the UK, and they do not have a Visa, they cannot get in through normal routes. However, if they become recognised as refugees, no offence is committed in any case. So, it is legal to enter the UK with insufficient documentation if you later achieve refugee status, it is not illegal entry until that status has been determined.
