Corruption in the UK, from top to bottom.

We were discussing this in the office earlier

So after the expenses scandal, constant police cover ups/stitch ups, the odd bung for a councillor to let something go, to plumbers over charging the vulnerable.

What is your price to do something unethical within your work or personal life.

We all have a price, whats yours?

A girl i work with would push over a old lady at a bus stop for £1,000

I was looking at taking on another engineer, told a recruitment agency I was thinking about it, BLIMEY twice a day calls, they went mad for it.

Didnt know when to stop, such poor sales from their part.

What IS corruption, though? In some forms, it is blindingly obvious. But what about the greyer areas, like corporate hospitality?

That involves people offering and accepting hospitality often worth hundreds or thousands of pounds for continuing to put business your way, or trying to make people put business your way. Is that 'corruption'? In one sense, it's not that different to a bung.

The civil service used to think so, as they weren't allowed to accept any. And I only raise this because a lot of people would say it's fine.

If they listened to me I would have got someone in for 8 weeks, it was the lack of listening which was bad on there part.

I had to go to our MD for budget etc etc, and still they persisted every day.

Madness.

I do understand its tough out here.

Stupid more like, if he stops using them...

Depends how you look at it. So many agencies out there, had another agency called him on the day that he happened to get approval for the budget from the MD, he would have gone with them instead.

But yes, twice a day, every day, is excessive.

Surely corporate is anything but open and honest why take someone to a 'Box at the match etc' unless you were after something ?

It could be after the fact i.e. to thank someone for something - although I agree, usually it woud be to get repeat business I would think.

We're still not, well not really. If we receive any gift over the value of £16 we've got to pay for it. Have to declare any hospitality we receive, from a cup of coffee to a lunch.

Have you hopped on the Christmas/New Year bandwagon? I've had about 4 emails from recruiters this week telling me this is the perfect time of the year to find a new job.

i f***ing HATE recruiters.

That's a shame.

Nah, I only do Qualified Social Workers, and it is far from the perfect time to find a new job in that market. If it carries on like this I might have to find one myself.
