Yes, I'm sure I read once that with all the appeals process, which is quite right, Capital Punishment is far more expensive to inflict as sentence than a whole life term.

Hmmm. No chance if that. There’s only approximately 70 people serving whole life terms in the UK! They are reserved for the most heinous of crimes. Sadly, acid attacks are fairly common in parts of London.

It was already a crime under the Offences against the Person Act 1861 to use a corrosive substance with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm. This offence carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Police have named the suspect involved in the attack as Abdul Shokoor Ezedi and say they believe he is from Newcastle.
And I think most of us are well aware as to why it is.

I don't think this country is shit at all. I've never felt like I've ever wanted to leave. Every society has its problems. I think we are quite fortunate really.
One of my minor irritations is when folk try to turn threads of concern about the welfare of a mother and children into a debate on other subjects- and I think most of us are well aware as to why it is....

I was wondering about this as I don't hear too much about acid attacks, but it does seem to an increasing issue, which I wasn't aware of. Definitely a sickening crime, hope the people who carry these out get substantial jail time.
Acid attacks increase by 69% in a year in England and Wales, charity warns
Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) said the attacks, which cause instant and excruciating pain and can leave victims with life-changing disabilities, had been declining following a peak in 2017, but cases spiked last year.
Doing a bit more research and it seems to be the case that, at least in Essex, the vast majority of these crimes are carried out by white males.
