I wonder how many of the current squad are now on the highest paid player parity clause?

I was led to believe it was previously Dunk, Lallana and Gross, but would think that Mitoma and Pedro have got to be close to Dunky in the highest paid player category by now?
think mitoma’s new deal he signed not too long ago would’ve included a substantial pay bump

Yeah I can’t see this one. Club that needs to sell, overpaid player, not our profile… I think this is an agent shopping him around. Link him with us and see who else bites.

Do we need another holding midfielder? He's decent and might want to get back in the French squad. Or he might be enjoying collecting his paycheck. Need to do a lot of background research on this one if more than agent talk.

From L'Equipe...

“Brighton is looking for a full and experienced midfielder, and the 2018 world champion fits perfectly with the profile. English leaders have already inquired with their Lyon counterparts, but also with the player. The latter is flattered by the interest of a club of this level and ambition."

Not a bad source tbf..

If it happens I guess its either because one of Hinsh, Wieffer or Milner won't be playing more anytime soon, or because Baleba is getting sold (presumably to City in that case). Given the pedigree of this player, maybe the latter is the more likely.

I could be miles off here, but I have some knowledge of the player and remember watching him play for Bayern some years ago. The player I remember was all fizz and no gin. I don’t like this one, if true, his reported wages are a concern to me, along with his injury record, and that he turns 31 this year.

But I back the club, if the numbers fit and he’s within budget I’m not going to second guess Tony and the guys.

This is a regurgitation of the original article but it says we are looking for a ‘versatile and experienced midfielder’ which sounds like a Milner replacement. Would hope that’s the case and not a Baleba replacement!
Well it sounds like a Milner replacement because Baleba might already kind of be replaced (Yalcouye).

The club has not been expecting to sell Carlos this season I'm sure, but Citys desperate need for a Baleba like player might just change things. Tolisso is perhaps seen as the "experienced midfielder" replacement for Milner in the future but would also be a logical temporary bandaid replacement for Baleba.

I'd be happy with this signing for the right price, he's got good pedigree and experience which would be a massive help to our young inexperienced central midfielders. Given that Milner is still unavailable and an unknown return date we could do with a bit of know-how. His injury record does concern me little though
