The 2010/15 Coalition worked well IMO. Parties and individuals conceding points, compromising. They also worked with expert Labour MP’s on certain issues, such as Frank Field. Cameron, Osborne, Clegg and Cable were a quietly formidable team. The socialists and writers predicting its early collapse, got it all so wrong.

Obviously Labour supporters will always hate them, plus those against student loans (which Blair initiated) and those affected by the post-2008 crash austerity.

Blair initiated it, was that cross-party too? I got my first student loan in 1992.

They made a HUGE mistake of forming a coalition and will NEVER be forgiven (even though what has happened with the other two parties has been far worse)

In my book they did the right thing in joining the Tories (in the national interest). The reason why I would never vote for them is all down to their opposition to Falmer.

Yes, but Norman Baker is gone now and the Tory who took his place is a member of ERG.

I don't think it reflects well on the British electorate that it is recognised by so few what a great job they did In moderating Tory excesses and, until the election trail was hit again, enabling a strong and stable government to persist.

As the coalition was formed, many of those on here who lean left of centre were stating that it would all come crumbling apart within a matter of months and, much like their other political predictions, they were proved to be hopelessly inaccurate.

In our ridiculously polarised politics, with the Lib Dems repeatedly polling so badly, I also think there is generally a perception that a vote for them is wasted. If people believed they could do better, they'd receive more votes. They're in a bit of a catch-22 position.

Not in the Lewes constituency. Labour get very few votes so the only way to turf out the Tory is to vote Lib Dem. Eastbourne did it in 2017.

That would be the anarchists........all their Christmases have come at once .........unfortunately for them they are too anarchist to actually get organised and decide how to benefit

been the problem since the 70's ...anarchists be they emotionally or financially motivated have never had an alternative ....it's always been smash the system but what is the alternative ....are they just there to perpetuate/ justify the system .....i think they may very well be ....points make prizes and all that ...!!

So, one arrogant, stubborn MP then forms your opinion of that party, for ever (yes I remember Bellotti too)?

I presume you don't vote at any election now?

Why would you presume that? I don't have a problem with any other party. And it's not just Baker - the national leadership had a chance to rein them in and chose to ignore it. Anyway, it seems that the good people of Lewes made their own minds up so justice was done.

Yes, we were happy to vote him out, but the Tory replacement is as bad, if not worse.

Once upon a time we had liberal democrats, what ever happened to them.

Their leader made a huge mistake in giving a public commitment regarding student fees/loans. Then Cleggy got a little bit of power making Cameron's tea and polishing his shoes.........and sold out.

Not sure I can recall a bigger or more blatant lie in politics in my life.

Thanks to Clegg and his lies, the LibDems are finished as a political force in this country.

I'd like to see May call for a vote of no confidence in Corbyn,

Whilst I imagine this isn't actually possible, someone should be saying: "FFS man, you are supposed to the the Leader of Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition - act like it, will you?"
