Coppell's going nowhere says player

I spoke to one of the players this afternoon, and Coppell has told them he is going no where and that it is all talk.

I suppose you could say this means nothing, but on the other hand this player certainly bought it.

Personally I have never liked Coppell, because of the Palace thing, but he is starting to mould the team well and it would be a shame if he left now.

I guess this doesn't really tell us much more though does it?

Sorry can't say not fair on him, but he is one of the younger ones, which may mean he is more gullable!!

So why hasn't he told the media that he's not going anywhere and he's not interested in the Reading job? Doesn't add up.

Are you sure he didn't say "Oi David Lee. You're going nowhere. You're all talk"

Talk sport have yet again comfirmed that coppell will sign for Reading tomorrow.

Coppell has said himself he will be there for Saturday's game against Blackpool.

This has been on Meridian, Sky and on Seagulls World

He'll probably be in the stands eyeing up which players to take with him.

All these poster claiming to know a player are bollox unless they name then. I finally caught up with Si Rodger today (have not spoken to him for about a month) and he is feeling very low. Not only is he unable to play for "several months", he is in pain AND he believes Coppell will go to Reading. He also told me the Owusu negotiations had "broken off".

If he does go - I don't think he will go until after this weekend's game, regardless of Reading saying they want to make an appointment by the end of this week.

I suspect that there is very little in the way of any hard facts floating around tonight, Artois.

Incidentally, would I be right in assuming that the 59k-odd posts you've made is in itself not a fact? Have you been going round nicking other peoples post counts? If so that might explain why mine got decapitated by several hundred!!!!!

It is the fact he wanted to finish this 3 week run on a high!! You can read that both ways. I just hope that means after a tough run we end it on a high with 3 points and nothing else.

My money's on a Monday lunchtime press conference. I should point out that this is not a rumour that I'm starting nor is it as a result of a conversation with an inside source. It is purely a hunch. Taking the team for Saturday represents (to me) tidying a few loose ends and ensuring a clean handover for the next manager. We should be grateful that he didn't decide to walk today and leave us in the shit for Saturday but I think this shows the character of the man.

All the same, I'm going to have a job to clap when he comes onto the pitch on Saturday.

Why was he allowed to talk to Reading? Is it in his contract, or not?

If not, then Mr dodgy second-hand car dealer is poaching.

If so, then Dick Knight has been less than honest with the Brighton fans.

If Coppell has signed a contract then he should honour it. If he can't do that then he shouldn't have signed it in the first place.

Yes, but if that was the case then we'd still have Bobby Zamora moping around. If Coppell wants out then let him go but let's just hope that the contract has a decent compensation clause in it. If it doesn't then that's not Steve Coppell's fault is it?

When Micky Adams got the Leicester job he left straight away. He didn't hang about doing one more game.

Nothing certain yet either way.

When coppell goes tomorrow or Monday then we'll be nothing but a past stepping stone in his life.

I'm wondering what the next future manager is thinking ? how long will I be with the Albion before a better club comes in for me ? :(
