I depends how good the youngsters are that are on their way through and who we can get in over the summer. :boring:

I am sad to see Reid leave, but you can understand the reasoning. I would imagine he is one of the better paid players, but struggling with a series of injuries and will not get any better.

I thought McFaul might get a short term deal to impress further, but obviously did not do enough. Carl Wilson-Denis Mk II!

Whilst I thought Rents was not a bad player, he doesn't seem to have progressed at all. Not good enough at left-back and not good enough to make a place in the midfield.

Mayo and Hart. Probably the right decision as they will be wanting to play football regularly at their age and I don't think we are able to guarantee that. Sad, but then that is football.

I thought Butters may sneak another contract. Elphick and Lynch have obviously learned a lot from the big guy and he could have been a useful back up. However, I am not sure that suits him. He did look a bit off the pace and who can blame him. Most reserve games were getting called off and he needed games under his belt.

Not sure about the youngsters. I haven't seen anything of Cobbs, Skinner, Winterton etc.

Shame we are not going to go for Martot. I was quite a fan of his and he was a useful player to have about.

All in all, we say goodbye to some legends and some real characters. Always sad.

They will get some decisions right and some wrong - we all do that

So let's wait for what the future brings. It's certainly going to be the most exciting run in to the new season for a while seeing who comes in (and how many speak English as a first language now we have Lloyd on board). And I reckon we still might sell one or two..........

i reserve judgment till May 2009. We'd love to see our favorite players given another year, some have it in them, some dont. this clear out is a sign to start a fresh, with a new squad to move us towards Falmer.

Spot on.To many planks on here who think they know better.Some are moaning about releasing Cobbs or Rents etc but i bet most never new about Elphick untill this season.Wilkins has worked with kids for a number of years so i think he has a good judgement on who will make it.Of course managers can let a good player slip through the net thats part and parcel of football.It just means clubs like us can find a gem on the free.I really can't wait for the new season and i believe Wilkins himself will become a much stronger manager now he has been bedded in and given time to prove himself.A good clearout ws on the cards so we a can bring in a few quality players and go for it next season.

Just seems odd that you offer someone like Oatway a role at the club and not Butters who could add more to the club.

The chairman has spoken to him about this about a role at the club but he's got to have meetings etc and he's away at the moment. He'd love to stay at the club one way or another, and what with Falmer round the corner there might be lots of opportunities. He's doing his Level 3 for the next few weeks and once he's done his coaching hours and assessment this will qualify him to coach at academy and youth level, after that it's Level 4 (Uefa A) and then the pro licence, so he is looking to stay in the game in that capacity........unless we win big on the lottery that is!

So that stops you having an opinion about the game does it? You must be a well interesting chap to talk to in teh pub after the game!

He can teach the players everything he learned at Spurs.

The only one i would have kept was Sonny Cobbs.
All of the other players have had their best years with the Albion, we can`t afford to be sentimental and give players like Gary or Kerry contracts when they are only playing a handful of games.
