So how exactly has the HRA been used against you?

Not against me but against the UK - you only have to look at the high profile immigration cases as an example of the way it has stopped us ridding ourselves of scum. Have you missed those?

But when we vote to withdraw from the EU...

We would still be a signatory to the Convention. The European Union is a completely different matter and has no relation to the Convention or European Court of Human Rights

So you must think we should "unsign" the European Convention On Human Rights which was designed after WW2 and which covers some 47 european countries all agreeing to abide by basic human rights and accepting that the actions of their governments should be subject to an independent european court.

What an example to set everyone?

Good riddance, we managed fine before this farce was imposed on us by the Germans who themselves have a wonderful record on human rights.

What are you talking about! The Convention on Human Rights was drafted because of what the Germans did in WW2!

Yes, but NSC law is that everything about Europe is about evil immigration and nothing else. Farage's work is done on this forum.

I don't understand the point you are making. The HRA does not allow the government do these things. It gives people recourse to the law to stop them. And by signing the European Convention we give a European court the right to protect us as well. So how can we better off without it?

:ffsparr: I have no idea where you're getting this argument from, I'm stating that the government introduced the HRA contradicted it with policy and other decisions as emphasised by putting the right in bold and example after. It really is a case of 2+2 =.....

Boundary changes? all Hail prime minister BoJo in 5 years time.

Reducing the number of seats from 650 to 600 means Labour would lose out big time with every constituency made up of an equal number of voters. Labour would start off each general election with a 20 seat handicap because many of the marginals will simply disappear. Bozza Johnson could be our PM until 2055.

I'm a bit concerned about how this works, and just who is drafting it. The current Act has its flaws, but would the new Act be less rather than more ?

My biggest concern is the erosion of employment rights. The Tories are the servants of big business, so might we be. I fear a clear distinction will be made as to who the overlords are, and how we are indeed servants.

What would happen if the Act was scrapped then?

Are you really telling me that all those rights you listed would disappear if the Human Rights Act was scrapped? And the HRA as it stands doesn't even cover the greatest Human Right of all: the Right to choose the time of your own death.

In all honesty I have no idea, but I can only assume if the Act was scrapped then the rights would disappear? On the other hand the European rights would still be there. And well we don't have that specific right to choose the time of our own death otherwise assisted suicide wouldn't be illegal?

Will be best thing to happen to this country the day we rid ourselves of the Human Rights Act. Implemented by Blair and remarkably lined his pockets through his 'Human Rights Lawyer' wife cashing in on protecting terrorists and criminals! The sooner its scrapped the better!!
