You forgot the deliberate posting of racist doctored videos, but otherwise spot on.

Quiet now Mylene, you talk out of your pipe.
I can only assume you are talking about the self filmed clip made made by the race baiter Dawn Butler? She claimed to be pulled over by the old bill because of the colour of her skin, that video?

Do you know Das, Ironically I’d be far better off going from my current role to working security in a gatehouse. Better pay and a lot less hassle. In fact, it’s what I plan to do at some point soon. Live the easy life for a it.
I couldn’t give up completely and live on benefits, like you though.
I don’t know how you reconcile it to yourself but for me it’d be a combination of shame and feeling useless. I just don’t think I could rely on state welfare in all good conscience. Having others work to pay for my non-productive lifestyle. Must be boring too.

I'd suggest you join old Green grass in barking up that tree I'm sure he would welcome the company... good luck

Regards
DF

Its strange, the last 11 years have hardly been a rip roaring soaring, minimal economic growth, soaring debt and painful austerity. Yet many think there's nothing to see

I saw a German journalist asking, why aren't people on the streets protesting in Britain?

I find it all quite incredible. Not only are people not protesting in the streets but they are, lets face it, probably going to vote them back in next time.

I always find these threads are totally devoid of any tangible reasons why people vote Tory. The best one can expect is something negative about the opposition.

Many Aussies put ti down to the forelock tugging serfdom of the UK people, needing a ruling class to put them in their place and make them feel safe.

I argued about this for years, but after 11 years of Tory rule, are they so wrong?

If the ruling classes are not ruling us then why do we have them?

Not quite. As you well know.

Dawn Butler did indeed film a video of herself getting stopped with her friend who was driving. At the time, racist twitter/facebook went in to overdrive claiming she had flipped the video to pretend that she was on the driver's side.

Now, these were you standard dumb as **** racists (think your mate Das Reich) who are too dense to realise that the front facing cameras produce a mirrored image, hence the 'flipping'.

There are more committed racists however, this is where you come in, and someone who we can only assume wanted to encourage more real world violence against DB, uploaded another video. This person flipped the video back, claiming that it showed the real view that DB was trying to lie about, and even threw in the untrue claim that the driver was in fact white and DB was lying about that too.
All easily debunked and shown as untrue.
That's the video you uploaded on here, and even if you were unaware (ha) you had it pointed out to you, and your response was to post a picture of DB's office (that's had bricks thrown through the window) hilariously flipped.
And to demonstrate how this kind of disinformation works, a few posters on here accepted that video and its claims as you presented it.

You only have to follow a few of your twitter links to see what a depressing little online hole you inhabit, but the posting of that video really showed you up as the nasty piece of work you really are.

Happy to clear that up for you.

Me too. Even after the Brexit vote I didn't want to accept that what got it across the line was an Empire humping, exceptionalist, xenophobic rump, that I thought Britain had long consigned to the dustbin. The debate ever since then has made me think otherwise. I think the final nail in the coffin for me was the news recently about imperial measures. Not so important in the grand scale of things, but it's utter irrelevance and stupidity sums up the country these days unfortunately.

And also the repeated labelling of anyone who dislikes the cruel bully Patel as a racist.

Baker lite is a very odd and malicious poster.

Effective messaging about being the 'natural' party of government + gaslighting + ruthless cull of 'off message' tory politicians + smoke and mirrors + a sense of entitlement which their gullible voters find acceptable + ineffectual opposition + outdated and unfair FPTP voting system = ongoing Conservative Government

You are better than this, .....the British people do not need a ruling class to put us in our place.
There is no ruling class............decades and decades of voting show this.
When moods change and opinion shifts we vote out those we previously voted in.
There are no doubt privileged people amongst those we vote in......across the whole political spectrum..........., but they are no more important than you or i, they are commoners just like us.
There is a very recent episode in this country's history where those in power who thought they lorded it over us got a very unexpected bloody nose that many of them are still reeling from.

All good, we might have to agree to disagree about the ruling classes bit. Perhaps we use your term of 'Privileged People' (can we at least agree that they are overrepresented at government level? - is it still the case that 2/3 of Boris' cabinet are privately educated)

So why do you keep voting for privileged people that seem intent on representing the interests of other privileged people rather than those they are elected to represent?

One example of this was your austerity since the 2008 crash. The taxpayers (voters) bailed out the banks to the tune of 141bn pounds. You thanks for this was to be thrown into 10 years of austerity where your government cut back on services for the man in the street. So the privileged people, government and bankers **** up and the people pay twice . . . then keep voting them in. Meanwhile, between 2009 and 2013 the 1,000 richest people in the UK saw their wealth increase by 138bn pounds - nearly enough to pay back the taxpayer for their bailout.

You would have to work very hard to convince me that you have no ruling class. A quick google shows that a disproportionate amount of privately educated people are voted in as MPs.

https://www.theguardian.com/educatio...rivate-schools

This from 2010 shows some quite alarming stats (have things changed much since then?)

https://www.suttontrust.com/wp-conte...nds_2010_A.pdf

Anyway you acknowledge that the 'privileged people' are a factor in your governance. The question some of our Australian cousins pose (it must be acknowledge that their mistrust of the elite probably swings a little too far the other way) is fairly simple: Why do you keep voting in governments that appear to consistently and constantly **** you over?

As I said in my post I don't have an answer. I am genuinely interested though. Why?

I am assuming that the recent episode you are referring to is Brexit?

Aside from Cameron and May losing their jobs because they couldn't get it done. Can you point to some examples of how the ruling classes (privileged people, Rich, 1% - What ever we can agree on calling them) are still reeling from their bloody nose?

They seem to be doing okay from what I can see - At least they seem to be doing a lot better than your average Joe.

All good, so why do you keep voting for governments that seem intent on not representing your best interests?

There are no ruling classes, if you are someone who has convinced yourself there are ruling classes ruling you............then thats your own problem
Plenty of examples of those who treated the voters with disdain following the brexit vote who no longer have a job in the house..........

your last point is subjective to each voter..........does a voter vote on what they want as their own personal interest or what they feel is in the best interest of the country in the long term?
We all know for example that in the Brexit vote leavers voted for the interests of the country and remoaners (not the same as remainers) voted for self interest

Bloody hell what are you up at this time for  I forgot you don't sleep and have edited my post quite a lot as I felt like my main question wouldn't get answered :lolol:

The edit is probably still relevant to your answer to this post.

I really could not give one tiny toss where any politician has been educated.
Judge them on their performance whilst being politicians by all means, i cant be bothered with this whole thing of judging people because of where they were educated.

For what its worth, i would like to see a house of lords made up of a % of voted representatives and a % of appointed experienced people from walks of life such as teachers, nurses, doctors, military, police, business leaders, social workers, workers reps, scientists etc etc............a cross section of everyday life...........even god forbid religious leaders

For some bizarre reason there is a significant proportion of the British people that like bankers.
Just look at Brexit, a whole mass of remainers who said the views and interests of the banking and financial lobby were paramount considerations that must be listened to.
Personally i think they are tossers, but politicians have known for well before me and you were born that when the push comes to the shove they need to beg to the financial institutions...............so the greed continues and will continue for a long time yet.............especially when global economies take a hit.
The world will pay for covid financially for a very long time
