ok, who's been messing with Mattock's stats on wikipedia? ???

Years Team Apps† (Gls)†
2007–2009 Leicester City 66 (40)
2009– West Bromwich Albion 29 (0)
2011 → Sheffield United (loan) 13 (0)
2011-2012 → Portsmouth (loan) 7 (0)

if these are correct, i'm surprised Leicester let him go....

Naylor's tweets are based on the FACT Roy Hodgson said in a press conference this morning that both players were definitely coming to Brighton.

Surely these are loans with a view to permanent? From Poyet's press conferences, this is how he likes to do his loans. Does everyone else feel the same? Is it feasible that we'd sign these two on perms in the summer?

Both are out of contract in the summer.

It seems unlikely that Baggies will offer Gonzalo Jara a deal so it is a matter of whether we can offer him the salary he will want - he is currently earning a lot more than we could afford to pay I believe.

Mattock is in a similar situation salary wise but at 21 I guess there is a chance Baggies might offer him a deal in order to guarantee compensation should he go elsewhere. The risk for them would be that he would go back and be sitting on their wage bill but not playing again - they paid a substantial part of his salary at Portsmouth on loan as they are while he is with us. My guess is though that if it works well over the next three months and if we can put together an accepotable package to the player, there is a deal to be done but 21 year olds aren't renowned for seeing beyond the old LSD so could be difficult.

I agree with this but I do think we will be improving our wage structure in the summer to make us more competitive in attracting the right players. With a full year on substantially improved income and improved stadium capacity I hope this will be the case. There is little point in having the aspiration of premier league football unless we progress year on year.

Gus has already said that he is now seeing the difference needed to make the jump in leagues and INMO we may see some players moved on in the close season to make way for others to come in. The club has alot of players at different levels, wages will dictate who stays and who goes if we are to move up the league.
