Well, depends on how you see it. Our "neutral" thing is about being able to sell weapons everywhere. Selling stuff to both sides in WWII. Selling to the east and the west during the cold war. Generally speaking we usually let others do the killing though, we just provide the tools without asking any questions.

Boom, and just like that this thread has turned into a political whataboutism between the US and Russia. You political hacks on here are a funny bunch of morons.
It’s weird how the mods created a forum here for politics, in part, to not turn curious BHA fans off from joining the site with like minded folks and being a part the community - and several long time posters on here can’t seem to respect that. Like it or not the club isn’t a small local club anymore and internationals that happen to live in different political backgrounds follow the club - which benefits the organization and the hard work of Bloom.
Turn off the news and social media, we are living in the safest, most stable time the world has ever seen. Enjoy it.

If we’re entering the realms of whataboutery, the documentary “The Act of Killing“ features some of the participants in the 1965 Indonesian genocide when more than 1,000,000 people were murdered. A very surreal and disturbing film.
Mate of mine (age 80) is married to a Chinese woman who fled Mao's China with most of her relatives murdered. The second world war; rationing; facism; genocide.....yeah, you have a point. He thinks, with some justifcation, modern western hand wringers are a pack of sad wet poofs.
BUT, let us not be complacent. We have had relative peace in the west because of mutually assured destruction (sorry, my left wing antinuclear chums, but this is almost certainly fact). Neither Russia nor America have had a strategic, risk-taking psychopath in charge since the last war (strategic, yes, risk-taking, yes, psychopath, certainly, but not all three embodied in one man). But it could happen. Fortunately Trump is too much of a stable genius to waste time on strategy. And Putin's strategy is very inward looking.
Let's see what manifests over the next decade.
Oh, and if you don't like the political threads, you could always shoot them. Sorry, I mean ignore them.

So with your rather cynical take on political leaders, how do you suggest we obtain some good non psychopathic political leadership? Psychometric and psychiatrc assessment of all potential candidates? It could work.
I would add that the universal franchise has a lot to answer for. It saddens me that Das Reich and Moldy Brains, for example, are allowed to vote. It could be argued that we would have greater stability if only those who passed some tests were allowed to vote.
Safe and stable, but rather dull. I think most of us would prefer the thrill of charismatic leadership, the glorious promises, the ludicrous claims, the arguments, and the great nights like May 2 1997.

I've been there too. Not sure I'd describe it as one of the best, but I think I know what you meant. It's a hideous place.
For those who haven't been, there is a tree out the back of the complex- near the pits where all the thousands of corpses were slung into, which has a hand drawn sign on it.
It illustrates how the Khmer Rouge- believing that the infant children of enemies of the regime would inevitably inherit their insurgent tendencies- would kill all their babies and children to prevent them from ever growing up into dissidents. The illustration shows KR soldiers swinging babies by their feet and smashing their skulls against the tree trunks (bullets were too expensive to waste, it seems).
It's only a drawing, but the practice seemed quite widely documented. That, more than most of the awful things there, left its mark on me.
Yes, it really left a mark on me too. I do remember seeing that sign and being told how bullets were too expensive so they used whatever tools they could lay their hands on to batter people to death. Just such an awful thing to comprehend.
I have visited the Dachau concentration camp in Germany, but I went there knowing most of the details of what happened. When I visited Cambodia I didn't know too much about the genocide, so I think it hit me more. It was also in fairly recent history and they're still getting over it. One of the survivors told us his story in S21. The way he described how they tortured him was horrendous but he seemed genuinely happy to be telling us his story.
If you haven't read it, I'd recommend reading "First They Killed My Father" by Loung Ung. She was a child who survived the genocide.
