Most of my meals during term-time at uni consist of comfort food. Pasta bakes and shepherd's pie and roasts...nowt better on a cold bleak grim day up north.

I thought I was one of the few comfort food eaters on here.

Breakfast porridge with soya milk, coconut oil, raisins, apricots, dates and flax seeds. Washed down with a glass of cider vinegar with water.

Elevenses a tin of mackerel in rice vinegar and black pepper.

Lunch humus on rye bread sprinkled with cayenne pepper with cucumber, olives and a few cherry tomatoes.

Afternoon tea steamed Brussels sprouts from the allotment with olive oil and the cooking water drunk with a sprinkling of Himalayan salt.

Evening brown lentil Dahl, broccoli and steamed brown basmati rice.

To make it all feel better and happier. What is yours ?

I will go for Cauliflower Cheese topped with Crispy Bacon and potato chips with a good amount of Worcester Sauce.

Any decent recipes ?

This is SURELY the Winter of Beelzebub !

Just eaten a chicken stew with dumplings. Need to walk it off though, but weather shocking.

Home made, with decent cheddar, a bit of cayenne & black pepper for a kick, and some crusty bread.

I'm hungry just thinking about that.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Stew and dumplings

The best investment I ever made was a slow cooker. Whack everything in and let the beast of a machine work it's magic for whenever you want.

Ps This winter has been pretty good, hasn't it? The heating hasn't gone on much and I've got gallons of grey water at my discretion for the dryest summer ever.
