Not too disheartened, we did pretty well for 45 mins and Liverpool were a class above in midfield and attack. My only gripe was the guy near me in the pub blaming "that useless Barnes" for just about everything. So pathetic.

Brez did have a 'mare though!!

I just looked at the league table to cheer me up.
Or think back to that time at Selhurst where they could only attract 11,000 of their own fans, and watching them being locked in after the whistle and the whole comedy 1970s "stadium" thing.

text from a liverpool supporting mate at the game said the scoreline flattered them a little and our play in the first half was very good. From my view in Egypt watching on TV we looked naive and crap...

The scoreline did not flatter them. It could have been 10 easily

You represented the good name of Championship today and you have disgraced it. Shame on you!

Crap Town
Not too much to worry about , Reyes and Mattock will be back on Wednesday night , Razak and Assulin will shake up the midfield. This result means we can concentrate on the League

What the feck is wrong with people? Brezovan was under fire from the first minute today, unfortunately we were playing away to the favourites for the cup, who are taking it very seriously. We also had to play without our 2 best fullbacks! Honestly, what were some of you doughnuts expecting today?

Here
I'm trying really hard not to be too emotional about this but:

1. The passing game only works if it happens quickly once you're in the oppositions half and it requires players to keep moving up front - if there's no movement there's no penetration - Barnes was particularly guilty - caught out too flat footed too often
2. We have a goalkeeping problem - I think we've known for some time that Ankergen has too many flaws in his game but, as someone else has said, Brezovan was like a rabbit in headlights today, he was truly shocking and was at fault for four of their goals - that said he has played well since he's been in the team although his displays have tailed off recently, culminating in today - it was a disaster waiting to happen, and it did!
3. We are not physically strong enough: Buckley, Noone, CMS were all too easily but fairly eased off the ball
4. We don't close players down, its the style that Gus wants us to play but when you're playing good Premiership teams if you don't do that you get slaughtered
5. El Abd is not a full back, not at this level
6. There were a number of occassions when we had the ball on the edge of their penalty area and we tried to make the killer pass instead of shooting

That said there were some positives:

1. Vokes played well, one a lot of headers and held the ball up well + was unlucky on a couple of occasions
2. Lua Lua looked good and had the beating of Johnston
3. Greer played well in the centre of defence
4. Despite his own goals, which were really down to poor goalkeeping, Bridcutt was good on the ball and broke up a number of Liverpool attacks
5. We were playing Liverpool not Hull or Ipswich or Doncaster

But in the second half we were absolute shite, there's no other way of describing it but I have tried!!

I fully expected to lose but not in that manner. Brez and the defence are undefendable. Was a shamble's in that second half regardless to who we were playing.
