I am no expert,however surely any hope of John McCain becoming the next president of the USA has gone with former defence chief and Repubilcan Colin Powell opening saying 'i am voting for Obama'

Anyway, I suspect Obama is home and dry if he doesn't mess up. In the last36 hours I have driven the entire length of Ohio (a key state) and only saw THREE McCain/Palin signs the whole time. I'm now in Louisville, Kentucky and haven't seen signs for either candidate in this state yet. I'll give Indiana a go tomorrow.

On paper Obama would seem to have it sewn up with McCain trailing in the polls and looking increasingly cranky and out of touch on the televised head-to-heads. But, living in the States now, I tend to agree with other posters and unfortunately think McCain and his scary VP will just pull it off because of an irrational fear some of the voters have about seeing a black man as President and also the influence of the ”born again” numpties.

thats a big score for Obama, alot of center Republicans will probably follow that lead. Bear in mind Powell was expected to run for president one day (still might).
Reagan was one month shy of 70 when he was elected and almost 78 when he left office.
I hope Obama wins, the McCain/Palin ticket is a scary one on so many levels. But it wouldn't surprise me if either they have another Palm Beach Fiasco at the polls or if a lot of people in America say they will vote Obama/Biden because socially it is the 'right' thing to do but when they actually vote they cross McCain/Palin.
I watched an interview with Palin the other day where they were asking her how she got her news - radio, papers, TV? She could not name a single American newspaper despite saying that was how she received her news. They called her bluff on most of her claims - foreign office experience because she can see Russia from her window. I am glad we do not live in America because I would not want that woman dictating what goes on inside my daughters pants nor what books they can read.

Any news on the case against that nutcase (Palin) for having her ex-brother in law removed from his job in law enforcement, or is that still ongoing?
