I think that is what that annoys people, It was a waste of the money - You can get decent players for that amount.
Coke money = £250k
Nicky Forster = £75k

Although, it is unfair to say the money was 'wasted' as it was recouped in full when he left.

As the writer of the Times article, I have to point out that the need to cram the best bits of a fairly long interview into 750 words meant that most Albion-related stuff (which, it has to be said, is of limited interest to the majority of Times readers) had to be left out. That may have given the impression that CKR didn't regard his time with Albion as important, but is actually far from the truth. In fact, he told me he is still in touch with a number of the players and checks the club website every day.
A longer version of the Times piece is scheduled to go in the club programme for (I think) the Gillingham match.
Yep, f*** him.Waste of space. Big Time Charlie. In the said article, CKR all but calls Albion a tiny, insignificant club that he is glad to be rid of. The feeling's mutual.

"Roberto helped me a lot. When you’re young and people tell you things, you think, ‘Why is this guy telling me to do this?’ But when Roberto Carlos tells you to run back, you remember that he’s played 118 Champions League games, won three Champions Leagues, three World Cups - you go to his house and there are pictures of him with Pelé.”
Whilst I think McGhee didn't handle him at all well and effectively through away a huge talent (and transfer fee) it does seem a tad childish to only listen to peolple if they've been photographed with Pele.
The interview seems to confirm the view that he was well above his station and wasn't going to apply himself until he was at a club that he felt he deserved.
I can back that up... he is incredibly grateful that the club have him a chance. It's just that other things occured which soured it a bit and cut short the stay.
Big win for Fener 2-0 over Galatasary Sunday but someone please tell me what Roberto Carlos thinks he's doing?

Do you still stay in contact with him ?
