The democratic and free EU
Originally Dutch, so it could be.

The name 'kool sla' is orignally Dutch, but modern coleslaw as we understand it (with mayo) is American, possibly created by Dutch immigrants (or possibly not, no one actually knows).

For the record, Dutch supermarkets sell it as "Amerikaanse Coleslaw"...

Recommend making your own.

I use a yoghurt/vinegar/mustard dressing (i don't like mayo that much)

sometimes use herbs / seeds like fennel seeds, thyme/sage, chilli,
and multiple veg do the trick not just carrot, cabbage - fennel, onion, carrot, red/white cabbage, courgette, celery/celeriac, beets

Most supermarket coleslaw is rank, but homemade/restaurant stuff is usually nice.

Coleslaw and mature cheddar cheese in a crumpet sandwich is delicious.

Forever lives in my memory but for some reason I've only made it once.

The one food I could never eat. Something about raw vegetables mixed with mayonnaise used to make me gag. One particularly bad memory at a family meal was enough to say never again.

Isn't it called 'slaw these days?

I try to avoid it at places that call it 'slaw. They always serve you some hipster interpretation of coleslaw which bears little resemblance to what it should be, and it's always a MASSIVE disappointment.

Having never had or even heard of a crumpet sandwich I seriously need to improve my snacks as that sounds right up my street.

I am very meh on this one. If it's on the plate I will eat it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.
