It may (will) prove a tasty alternative, but I'm afraid you're wrong. You simply cannot beat my initial suggestion.

I used one of the many hot sauces I have knocking about and it was an absolute triumph.

Now I want a second one...

Two points have not been covered here yet.

1. Grate the onion. The resultant slush provides a fair amount of binding goop and the astringent edge required.
2. A tiny scattering of lightly toasted Caraway seed.

I douse my breakfast coleslaw on toast with sriracha. Works beautifully.
