Look at this, he massively contradicts himself within the space of a few words...

interesting interpretation... you see that as contradictory, i dont. but i think i can see why you do.

I used to have the same sort of blind spot with Deacon Blue - I hated them with a passion, but I don't know why... of course I used to (and still do) defend my feelings with 'evidence'...

Although Jo Wiley does tend to fawn over Coldplay far too much - as she is currently doing on the radio.

It's an odd thing isn't it about whether an artist is cool or not. I was kind of conditioned not to like James Blunt. I really don't like his music and I thought he was a git.
However....actually seeing him in interviews and (especially on the Sesame Street thingy) he comes across as a really sound bloke. Very self-effacing, clever, funny and just a nice bloke. Still find his music boring but I'll defend him from anyone who says he's a twat.

He was very good on Top Gear.

Also, I dislike Craig David, and it's been open season on him for ages.. I'm not sure why - he's an ok artist (well, not poor enough to really hate him).

God there are some pretentious young twats on this thread. Get your heads out of your arses, you are not the font of all musical knowledge but you sure come across as thinking you are. Your opinions are just that opinions not fact.

Just leave the thread and stop embarrassing yourselves....

I'd go along with that. There's any number of artists I like as performers but wouldn't want to sit next to. John Lydon is one such person but there are many more.

I try to judge people on their music rather than their personalities.

Im sorry but anyone who advertises the fact they like Country Rock hasn't really got a leg to stand on.

Shouldn't you be getting all unecessary over a Dolly Parton album cover or something?

You really are ignorant about music aren't you? Every time you try and debate music you end up showing how little you really know.

Oooh like, Chris martins has decided he DOESN'T want to talk about tihngs anymore.

Coldplay singer Chris Martin has walked out of a BBC interview while promoting the band's new album.

Nine minutes into the pre-recorded interview for Radio 4 arts show Front Row, the 31-year-old asked to leave the studio as he was not enjoying himself.

The band's drummer, Will Champion, was left to answer questions from presenter John Wilson until Martin returned for one final question.

Coldplay's new album, Viva La Vida, was released on Thursday.

'Journalistically twisting'

Martin appeared uncomfortable with the interview from the outset.

When asked about a speech he made at a music awards ceremony in 2005 where he said the band would be away "for a very long time", Martin said: "I always say stupid things and I think Radio 4 is the place that will most remind me of that."
The band had French Revolution-style uniforms made to promote the album

Presenter Wilson questioned whether the new album - full title, Viva La Vida Or Death To All His Friends - was a morbid reflection of the band's lyrical obsession with death.

"I wouldn't agree with you there at all, no," said Martin.

"I'd say you're journalistically twisting me into saying something I don't really mean."

A few minutes later, Martin said he was "not really enjoying this" and that he did not really like "having to talk about things".

Champion answered the remaining questions before the frontman returned to answer a final question, about finding new musical territory, with the response: "Um....yes...yes, yes....exactly..."

Sales figures released by the Official UK Charts Company confirm Viva La Vida sold 125,000 copies in its first day on sale.

It looks certain to be number one in this Sunday's album chart despite only being released towards the end of the week.

Cock.

Richie

Dolly Parton has written some classic songs. You need to broaden your horizons a little old chap.

I was thinking of popping into Woolworths and buying the new album. Do you think people in the queue will point at me and start laughing when I place the CD on the counter ?.

i love all this "well you only hate them because they're popular" bullshit

yeah, like i don't like ANY bands as successful or popular as coldplay:D

i dislike coldplay as there music just doesn't MEAN anything........can anyone seriously say that a coldplay song has changed their life, or indeed MEANS anything to them.......no......they are bland and create dull drivel, music that just doesn't GO anywhere.......and yes i HAVE listened to their stuff

I am going to ask the shop assistant to place the CD in a brown paper bag not one of those see through things. Alternatively I could place the CD in the middle of a copy of the Daily Mail. I knew my porno mag buying days would come in useful sometime.

Much easier and less embarrassing to download it onto itunes as well as cheaper.

You must have big cojones to actually go into a shop and try and buy a Coldplay album, can you imagine if anyone works out what you are doing and tells all their cool little friends?? You will be MOCKED all the way home and I wouldn't be suprised to see a gloating thread on here about how someone saw someone in Woolworths buying the album and outed them in front of the whole shop.

Good Luck
