My Dad lives in Ridge View(up the hill from the Hiker's) in Coldean-----he has a hard stand ooooer-missus!!. on his property.
Room for small/medium sized car on match days------open to offers.
The more in the car the cheaper it will be in the long run

Ha, well you do actually need to remove those blinkers,.....its not just for those like me who come from the far west country, think of all those from west of say Hove....the coast road from southampton is full of Albion cars heading to the Amex , all the towns away from the coast and thus a railway link, people coming in diwn the a23 from london and the m4 corridor......its fairly busy hence why mill road gets rammed very early in the day.

You only have to see the numbers coming in on the west coast trains to see how much western demand there is.

No, it's you who needs to remove the blinkers. If you did, you'll have seen that there has been plenty of debate about P&R sites in B&H over the past 10 years or so and there are very few suitable sites. And if you also took your blinkers off, you'd have seen the Albion talk extensively about FFP and the need to keep costs down. Trying to stick within financial guidelines and provide the funds for a promotion push is a tricky balancing act as it is, I really can't see the club wanting to commit several million quid to implementing another P&R site. And I can't see the fans clamouring for one either: if the choice was buying new players or buying a new P&R, I think you'd be on your own opting for parking.
But even we did find a site and could commit the funds to it, Brighton has a Green administration that is looking to reduce motor vehicles in town. I think our chance of getting planning permission would be slim, particularly when you take into account that two of our existing sites are under-used at the moment.
We really are well served for transport options: a train station next to the ground; a coach park next to the ground; four bus routes serving the stadium; two car parks next to the ground and three park and ride sites. Other clubs should be so lucky

So asking all the cars from West of Brighton to clog the roads up into Mithras and the Racecourse is in tune with that policy then isit??..... Replace Mill Rd with a bigger place and it will reduce those flooding into all the previously mentioned areas..... simple really if a spot could be found.

i think the reality for anyone coming from the west or in my case north of sussex and wish to get in the ground at kick off time for mid week games (having left work after 5.30 in my case) will need to buy a BHA approved parking space or have a private coldean arrangement. As the park and ride site that best meets our needs is not fit for purpose (too small for the number of cars that wish to park there) the other P&R optoins don't work for us either.

So it's going to have to be a £200 hike in the cost of your season ticket, unless, unlike me you have friends to share the cost.

Are you being serious? Block off one of the roads into and out of Hove?

Mill Road works because it has a parallel alternative (the bypass). King George VI Avenue doesn't have that luxury.

Mrs Gwylan is a governor of the school so she can raise that issue. You'll never get 100 cars in there though. The car park can hold about 20 cars (if that) and most of the playing field is banked, you'd probably get 20 cars on the flat bit of grass - will get a bit churned up when it rains.

Don't think the economics would stack up - by the time you've employed a few marshalls, the profit would be pretty low.

......or as in my experience coming in from the west, they are in the wrong place to cater for the numbers correctly.....more spaces are needed for those coming from the west, why do you expect us to effectively drive beyond the ground and then battle with almighty jams just to start our return journeys?....

Yes it does. I live in Hangleton and I always have the decision to make between heading West to the link road or East to KG6th. I've also experienced it being closed due to accidents a couple of times and it hasn't been that bad.

Two things.

1. The P&R is under-used. If you wish for the club to cough up for another site, where do you propose it would be?

2. I assume you've not noticed that the platform extension works at Falmer have already been done.

Mill Road is not underused. In fact it's full every home game a long time before kick off.

The problem with the other two sites are that if you are coming from either the North or the West, you add to the traffic problems trying to get to them.

The banning of parking at Coldean etc will only add to the early leavers I'm afraid.

The question remains: where would you place such a site? (and that's not counting the fact that east of Brighton would mean getting planning permission from Lewes - who haven't be staunch Albion allies so far). The point about the trains is a good one though, why doesn't the area stretch to Eastbourne or at least Polegate?

I've suggested before 2 possible sites both near the bypass.

There are car parks in Crowhurst Road (not Asda!) and also the Greyhound stadium, who could also do deals for the Sat evening meetings.
