Always thought Hammond was slightly over-rated anyway. There were loads of games when he was just completely anonymous. Didn't really bother me when he moved on.... But on the other hand I don't begrudge him if he was going to get four times the salary or whatever. Let's face it, we'd all do it in the same circumstances.

Boo Hammond if you want, he'll cry all the way to his bank.

I have it on good authority that Dean Hammond does not like it at Colchester and not just because of their poor form.

Hammond was a great player for the club, and very under rated because he didnt do any thing out standing apart from he broke up play well, played simple passes to feet, got in the box and scored a few goals too

People seem to think he is over rated, but we have been crying out for him since he left, as we have gone very defensive in midfield since his departure.

So he thought he could play in the championship, the fact is he did, and their fans seem to rate him too.

I will applaud him, although his career path probably didnt work out for him the way he wanted

I agree with you, and I don't blame anyone for his move.

It happens all the time. We offered him the best deal we could but Colchester offered him more. In the end it is common sense for anyone, particularly someone in such a short-lived profession, to take the best deal he can.

Loyalty to one club doesn't come into it. That's sad but understandable.

Don't see why he should be booed really. Yes he didn't leave under great circumstances but that shouldn't over shadow the service he gave us for 3 or 4 years previously. I for one shall be clapping him on his return.

I am totally indifferent towards Hammond. I won't boo him and I won't clap him either. He played for the club and now he doesn't, big whoop de do.

I had no problem with him wanting to move to a "championship" club, more money, signing on fee, whatever. No problem at all, its a short career and he has to look after number 1. We'd all do the same.

What pissed me off was him and his agent dressing it up under this "ambition" bollocks. Just be HONEST about it for christs sake - its for the money, nothing else. Don't take the fans for mugs with this "club must prove its ambition" bullshit.

The club made a £250k profit on him, he scored some valuable goals, and let's be honest, the midfield has not been impressive since he left. He's a local lad, so give him some credit.

Exactly. He was supposed to be the club captain and whether it was down to him or his agent the bollocks that came out about 'ambition' was meant to turn people against the club and feel sorry for Hammond.

I probably won't boo him though, he will be greeted with the same indifference as any other no mark playing for a tiny club in a shitty Essex town. :)

I don't think anybody blames him for going because of the money, it was the way in which he did it.
It wasn't as though he was approached then had to make a difficult decision, he, from what I have heard, was holding out for a Championship club to come along.

There have been plenty of players that have moved on, without belittling the club a good example being Adam Virgo.

It's the attitude of players like Hammond & Harding that I can't stand, and that is the reason he won't be getting an applause from me.

at the end of day we all go to work for one thing.

I don't. I mean, I do, as in I need to be paid, but with my qualifications and experience I could earn up to twice what I get. I love my job, I love where I work. Why go to a shit job for more money?
