I was told a Yorkshire club had made an offer to him.
Loved the guy. Gus ruined him.

No he didn't. He wasn't all that to start with. CMS only has one game which is using his speed to run onto through balls past flat-footed defenders. The kind of stuff we all did at junior school then grew out of. It only ever worked at the Crazy Gang of Peterboro where they went up due to something daft like scoring a hundred goals and conceding a hundred goals also. That was never going to be sustainable. Same as CMS career really. One trick pony. With the emphasis on pony.
At Peterborough he was at his best when latching onto the through balls and was prolific and was deadly. With us he was wasted. It's like asking a bricklayer to be a carpenter.
One trick pony?, Don't know about as he pulled of 2 cracking goals at Burnley that every Striker would love or be able to muster.
Which trick was this?
A good analogy actually. At his best, (and when playing alongside a a big number 9), he was a prolific finisher. As many have said, he was wasted at the Albion, as we never ever played to his strengths.
We need to remember though, that at 34 his best days are behind him, and if his salary isn't an issue, l can see him thriving in the lower divisions in the final years of his career. Sometimes it isn't all about money, it's about contentment.
He had enough chances in front of goal and fluffed the majority of them.At Peterborough he was at his best when latching onto the through balls and was prolific and was deadly. With us he was wasted. It's like asking a bricklayer to be a carpenter.

But when he chased on to a through ball he invariably did not take the chance. He played in a Peterboro side that gave him stacks of chances at a lower level and his record at League 1 is first class, however at a higher level there is no evidence to indicate he is good enough.

Agree, that L1 team with CMS, Boyd, McCann and Tomlin (was McLean in it too?) just clicked and had one of those seasons where nothing could go wrong
Alright then - I'll guess Southend.
What are the odds on him being Championship top scorer next season?
Not sure if it has been posted on here before ,but iam hearing that CMS is being linked with Luton.
Thought that might have been a bit of a come down for him
