CMS What's The Point............

The players who were bought to complement his game have been injured constantly. Hopefully when we get Buckley, Hoskins and Vicente fit, we will look more potent up front. We showed some sign of that at Cardiff.

Er, Buckley was injured, Vicente still in Spain and Hoskins played for 15 minutes.
And that was a long, long time ago.
Sadly, we've spent over 3 million on a player who doesn't suit our current style of play. Sure, he can be effective, but he could be so, so much better if we just used him properly.

Hoskins scored in that game, and my last sentence was that we showed SOME sign of that. Barnes was able to play as a striker in that game, but because of other injuries Barnes has had to play as a spare midfielder to help out. Buckley made a difference in the Doncaster game.
I think my point is still valid that injuries are handicapping us.

I've been brooding on this for a couple of weeks, but as it chimes in with this I'll mention it.

The second goal v Barnsley.
Harley smacks the ball in and runs in the other direction.
CMS, in front of me, drags himself to his feet, and looked so forlorn that he was getting none of the plaudits.

Possibly Navarro went to him, but he had to go to everyone else, and he looked seriously f***ed off.

Wouldn't be surprised if we sold him in January

Very rarely do I agree with you Ernest. BUT i was actually thinking following the obvious lack of service he requires HE could put in a transfer request in January & quite frankly the way we have been playing I wouldnt blame him

This was the biggest surprise for me today. I was VERY worried about coming up against Mackail-smith, but...nothing came through him. On the occasions that he worked his ass off and got in a good position, there were f*ck all options for him. The poor guy must have felt like lieing down and weeping.

The service is just not good enough.

I know we're missing some very creative players who could make all the difference when they come back, but insisting on sticking Noone on the right in these games is doing us no favours whatsoever, and it is SERIOUSLY winding me up.

I hope they don't make you ANGRY Easy, we all know what happens when that occurs

We don't want you turning into Fatima Whitbread again, and you always have that DILEMMA when it occurs, whether to use the ladies or gents bogs.

My HERMAPHRODITE tendencies tend to come to the FORE after a defeat, I must admit.

By the way, my Words With Friends app keeps crashing, meaning I have to constantly keep re-installing it and I've run out of PATIENCE with it for now.

WORDSMITH is the way forward.

Is this the Gus who got us promoted last season, or another one?

Same one but we don't play to CMS strengths .. you only gotta look at that Posh team ...scurrying like ants through MF .. what chance Harley/Nav's even Sparrow... he doesn't even suit the wide players imo ... I don't know what the future holds for him Gus looks unlikely to change much

The problem with him is that CMS doesnt really fit into our style of play. He has scored a lot of goals when the ball is.played in behind the centre halfs, which we dont do. I would really like to see him up top with vicente (when fit) playing in the role George Boyd does for peterborough where CMS scored a lot of goals. I'd also then like to see Buckley (when fit) and Noone/Lualua out wide

From experience of watching Palace players with the same problem, he probably needs to stop working so hard to chase defenders down and stay in a central role. Ultimately his work ethic recently hasn't stopped you from losing the majority of games.

If he stops coming so deep to receive the ball, he'd probably have more joy.

Buy George Boyd in January.

Well if you believe Gus we have no money left to spend, and have the 16/17th sized budget in the league :lolol:

Boyd is no different in quality to Buckley. At least Boyd is always free of injury.

CMS upfront with Buckley and Noone/Lua Lua either side of him please.

Exactly, our money's been spunked on players who we knew (bar Hoskins) had injury problems, and now it's come back to haunt us.

I said to my old man on the phone earlier, wouldn't suprise me one bit if CMS were to put in a transfer request, at the moment we're holding him back. He was clearly told he'd be the focal point of our attack, and Poyet's way of proving that is to play to the complete opposite to his strengths. I'd be pissed off if that were me.

Some people really make me laugh. So some of you think CMS is pissed off because he was PROMISED a certain style of football and he's not getting it?

It's football, not a science, there was never ever going to be any guarantees and he seems a level headed bloke who will always work his socks off. The goals will come once more...

Of course he wasn't "promised" anything but he was sold something be sure of that. It's been said it wasn't about money and we got him ahead of several bigger clubs it was reported. CMS joined us on a high .... he was firing on all cylinders and I'm sure he is ambitious and maybe this was his chance of getting in the Premier League (OK not year 1 but have a go) and enhance his reputation and value further. So Gus did a sales job on him and given that he's seen the ball about 20% of the time he'd expect to ... he's now being talked about in the media as on a goal drought and on current form he's with a club that are showing all the potential of being at the wrong end of the league then nothing is beyond possibility.

Yes it's a hypothesis and I'm sure the OP and others were just wondering what's going on in CMS head, bloody certain though he would have questioned his decision to join us.
