I'm sure I'll get shot down by all the happy clappers for suggesting this, but I wonder if Bloom is looking to sell sometime soon and before doing so is making a bit of money for himself by selling the family silver? I can't really think of any other sensible reasons for some of the crackpot decisions being made by the club at the moment.
I dont think anyone needs to be happy or clappy to find the holes in your argument. There are about 200 million of them from the summer just for a start.

There is no conspiracy. Just things arent going well.

I’ll bite even though I should know better.

Which of Ruairi McConville, Jakob Moder, Cameron Peupion, Valentin Barca (even tho technically he’s still our player till the summer), Benicio Baker-Boaitey and Imari Samuels is evidence he’s selling the family silver?

Yeah, Bloom and Barbs have obviously ditched the meticulous planning approach and decided to go a bit slapdash for the bantz.

I would say. We had promising youth capable of delivering & growing into decent 1st team players. Sarmiento (maybe), goodnight, encisco, ferguson, adingra all could have played starring roles this season.

Instead of keeping our policy of buying youth loaning out for experience & then blooding them in the 1st team, we pulled the rug out from under them by going out on a £200m summer spending spree on players (unproven in the premier league) who instantly jumped the pecking order & have kept these talents out & who have only delivered what I expect the aforementioned players would have done (or maybe these new players have done less).

I feel we lost/ didnt stick with the strategy that had been successful & had made as a model example of how to do good business.

Ayari & Baleba are exceptions to this - but overall, the others have been fairly shafted by the club

Well, when it comes to crackpot, you ARE a bit of an expert!

junior is a relentless WUM with an insatiable thirst for attention, which he harvests by making numerous moronic, idiotic statements on here. He then settles back and strums himself senseless as the quotes pile up.

Do try to resist giving him the satisfaction.

I mean, he’s turned down £70m for Mitoma and accepted £1m for McConville, if your theory is true I think we have more pressing matters, Power of Attorney being front and centre

Can't you just post this on one of the million other threads on this subject?
I am thinking about starting a thread on the existential nature of opinion forming in the football milieu, using the utter, complete and utter, and utterly completely bafflingly certain opinions about the total madness of the Albion appointing a fifteen year former under-tens swimming coach as our tight-lipped supremo, as the vehicle for critical analysis. Possibly Marxist, applying the dialectic developed by Eric Hobsbawm.

What do you recon?

I have an additional solution, which appears to have served me well on this particular occasion.
You can probably guess what that is.

(Do you think he uses a plectrum? Or tweezers?)

So what do you do with young talent when your first team squad has so much depth (albeit with most injured or coming back from injury) and it gets to the point that you have so many players you have to do what's best for the player and in these instances they want regular first team football to further THEIR careers. If we block that by keeping them in the U21s, no young talent is going to want to come here.

How you are pinning this on FH is mind blowing - most were here before he arrived and it's not solely his decision. Still to keep NSC content we should lobby the EPL to start 14 players every game to keep all the players and NSC happy.....
You move them on, obviously, for a £million quid (but usually a lot less) and replace them with U21s from other clubs for up to £20M a pop.

I'm not sure it's a terribly good cunning plan though.

I reckon that's probably exactly what you are thinking. I recommend a nice cup of tea and a couple of aspirins! :)

Haven't you got any theses to mark?

How many of these £20m players (can you name them) are currently training and consistently playing for the U21's and how many have done in the past?

Minteh - straight from Newcastle U21s (out on loan, like many of our U21s that we've moved on).
Minteh and others who just happen to be U21's were not development signings, hence the cost and were either integrated straight into the first team or sent back out on loan (normally to the selling club)

Players for the U21's who are integrated straight into the U21's are generally a lot younger and cheaper - the two models coexist....

Its a master plan, to get Chelsea to sell their youngsters (given they like doing what we do), so that we can buy them cheap, and reverse the tide from us to them .

Beyond this season we clearly have a wealth of high potential talent available but also very tough calls to make on the retention of players who would have walked into almost any Albion 11 outside of the last few seasons.

What’s most baffling to me is that we’ve invested so heavily but it’s easy to argue our transfer business was not balanced and has given FH several scenarios which would challenge even vastly experienced managers.

In the Summer, we bloated the attacking ranks with some positions being stacked with options. On the right our squad options included Adingra, Minteh, Rutter, Gruda, ACD, Osman and now March. It’s also overloaded in the number 10 position with multiple players who mostly expected to compete for starts and minutes.

At the same time, it was quickly very obvious that we didn’t have the required depth and/or profile of player in defense. JP is the only central option likely to suit FH’s preferred high line, intense running and low block tactics. To stop the frequent gifting of opportunities on transitions, he needs to be complimented by a rapid partner. We frequently invite trouble by backing off and being far too slow to reset in a block. Despite this being clear all season, we’ve just shelled out a surprisingly hefty sum on Cashin - who looks like he’d lose a foot race to Dunk and Igor!

To be fair it’s clear that Ferdi, Wieffer and even Milner being unavailable really hurts us. That said, I’d imagine their absences will now look relatively inconsequential if Danny picks up an another knock or injury.

Overall it seems like we looking ahead to the summer window while testing if FH has it in him to adjust, find solutions and get more buy-in from a tighter squad.
