On another tack about songs and the like……have we a “ song” for the. Ole ole oleeeeeeeeey, ole ole oleeeeeeeeee. Song that so many teams have words for?

just heard the arse singing a version and then the chelski doing the same…of course and Liverpool.

now we are “ big boys” I think we should have our own version.

Now now we can’t have everything at once I’m just happy they’ve taken the tin pot words off the screen, it was embarrassing !!
I agree it is a bit cheap having the words on the screen but it turns out that the majority of fans now know the words which I guess is a good thing, every cloud etc but I do agree with you.

Allez Allez works a lot better when you've won something along the way to boast about in the lyrics.
That said, if you can get a rhyme going with Community Shield, white cup final suits, missing cash, losing the Goldstone and Hereford then fill yer boots.

We were champions of England
A long long time ago
And champions of Sussex
More times than most would know
We moan about the words
That are put up on the screen
And taking tops from our bottles
Really is obscene
Allez allez allez...........

I don't even like Mull of Kintyre as a song, but somehow it really works at Forest. It always sounds good.

I must be in the minority that goes to the Amex to watch a game of football, not join in with singing anything before kick off ?

This has got me thinking now. Is SBTS the oldest club anthem?
Written in 1907, is there any club anthems , still regularly sung, that pre-date it?

We don’t even win the South Coast battle on that front - the ‘Portsmouth’ tune that Pompey run out to dates to the 1700s apparently.
(Only know because Colin Murray was talking about it on 5Live this morning!)

Newcastle’s Blaydon Races was written in 1862, not sure when it became regularly sung at games but by the early 1970s at least.

I’m wondering what the newest anthem is now. Hibs use Sunshine on Leith (and it sounds AMAZING with the crowd in full voice) which was written in 1988.
