I still can't see how you can tar NSC, a forum with c6000 members, of various levels of activity, as an embarrassment based on the actions of a small minority. Especially when an equally 'vocal' majority eloquently debate an alternative view of events.

Pray tell, what should NSC do to cease being an embarrassment?

I'm not tarring them Bozza - its always the case of a small minority who everyone stands around and shakes their head at. I'm not suggesting that there is anything at all we/I can do about it - its just how I see it at the moment. The eloquent debate is indeed there and pleasingly so. Its just overshadowed by some embarrasing posts from people "in the know" hiding behind their keyboards to take a pot shot at DK - I find it embarrassing as a fan that a few "inside" people are keen on washing their dirty laundry here. And we all know when the press get a hold of things like this they'll look to get some mileage out of it...

What I still can't understand is.................COLCHESTER?? I used to live near there and even by Essex standards the place is a shitheap. If Hammond wants to go then good luck to him, everyone is entitled to a fresh start and a pay rise (if there is one for him there), but.......COLCHESTER....never.

The only winner here is Hammond's agent. We have lost a good player and our captain, the board have ended up with another argument with the Anus and a diminished chance of higher revenues from promotion next season, and NSC has gone binfest crazy despite the club making their biggest signing for 25 years.

Nevertheless, negotiations with agent and player continued, which led to Dean being offered a contract which would have made him the highest paid player at the club; the club also included a clause allowing him to leave at the end of this season, if Albion did not secure promotion to the Championship.

The club made it clear to Dean he was seen as a very important part of the club's future plans - we had spent 13 years nurturing his talent. Instead, Dean rejected an extremely generous Albion contract offer, with its "get-out" insurance clause, belying his repeated statements that he wanted to continue playing for the club.

Left with no alternative, reluctantly he was made available for transfer in the best interests of the club.

That says it all for me.

The statement looks pretty well what I had thought about the going's on Hammond (or Hammonds agent) thought that he was better than he is and the club should not be held to ransom over what I see as a childish spat.
If someone who has played for his home town team for 9 years cannot see that getting the wages he was offered were OK and going to Colchester was a better deal then good luck to him, methinks that he has listened to his agent and has come unstuck time wise.
onwards and upwards
