Sorry, should have said that when I can’t go I do use the exchange. My post was more in response to the suggestion that putting your ticket on the exchange shouldn’t count as the ticket being used.
Got it.

Yes, I agree.

Having an unlimited facility to put the ticket on exchange also allow for people who fall ill, or have some other personal crisis to not attend and not lose the chance to re-engage when all becomes well again.

I'd back that change if there is presently a cap on the number of times one can do this

Have you heard about the possibility of putting up your ticket to be made available to others?
You get most of the money back.
That way you get most of the money back and don't trigger the club to contact you.
There may be posts elsewhere that explain how to do this.
Failing hat, look on the club site

It took me three attempts to read the whole thing over about five years.
The trick is to run your fingers under the words as you read them.

Seems fair enough. I’d go as far as saying you should have to attend a minimum of 12 of the 19 home games to retain your season ticket and I wouldn’t count the times you list on the exchange.
The 5 game minimum is for the actual STH themselves attending, it doesn’t include listing on the exchange, sharing or upgrading the ticket to someone else

That’s not really a face palm moment is it? Telling someone if they don’t want to watch PL or European football or get excited about our shiny expensive new toys in action then a ST isn’t for them?
Each to their own I guess.
The facepalm was due to your comment suggesting people think the club can do no wrong. Not sure anyone has suggested that the club get everything right but it keeps getting repeated by people either with an agenda against TB/PB or if there is one thing they don' agree with.

I would also ask why would someone get a season ticket if they spend their life moaning about where the club is now?

Don't most right-thinking Albion fans appreciate both Dick Knight and Tony Bloom.

Both played their part in our journey from the gutter to the stars. They were both in the right place at the right time and stood up to make a difference, making massive contributions to the club we all cherish.

However, it is also a very sad reality that it is DK v TB. I'm not interested in picking things apart, and trying to apportion blame because, as I say, it is very sad that their relationship ended as sour as it is today. Both men are Albion heroes and legends, and it would be absolutely fantastic if they could stand shoulder to shoulder with the pride both deserve to feel.
This with bells on

I would add that one phone call to the club to say, for example, 'I am undergoing chemo and can't attend any more games this season, can I put the rest of my tickets on exchange and re-engage on my season ticket next year' will certainly see the 5 games minimum waived.

I don’t agree. What about those of us who live a long way from the Amex, or who bring school age children? The large number of week-day evening or late weekend kick-offs etc mean it’s simply not practical for everyone to attend as many home games as that. I have a 7-8 hour round trip, fine for a Saturday 3pm game but there are many I just can’t do.
Fair play for you even having season tickets. Heroic.

If you miss a large number of games, you could maybe look for someone to share with? Officically, that is (pay the modest fee).

I imagine there are young adults who can't go Saturdays due to work, but can usually go midweek/late.

Precisely.

It is strange how people with an issue allow themselves to exaggerate it to a level of absurdity, even risking wiping away everything that is now good in order to make their point.

I was just listening to Nicky Campbell. A right wing guest supports X because Musk got rid of the 'left wing' fact checkers to facilitate 'free speech'. And yet he is uncritical of Musk for banning MAGA Trump supporters from X because they disagree with his (Musk's) policy to use special visas to import cheap tec workers from India (and lay off expensive Americans), a policy Trump opposes (apparently). Doh!

The truth is the best thing to seek, even if some of the details are uncomfortable. The truth about Bloom is he is fantastic for the club. As was Knight.

Of course it can't be ruled out that one day 15,000 Albion fans will be chanting 'Bloom out'. Events and all that. But taking sides now is, I'm afraid, the bitter pursuit of old man keyboard warriors who perhaps should cut down on the shandies.

I’m sure there’s lots of people that travel further than me. Moved away from Sussex in 2001 but would hope to never give up my season ticket. Done 4 of the 9 home games so far and my ticket has been shared (officially) or on the exchange for the others. I think an expectation of attending 5 games a season in person is a fair threshold for the club to set (unless exceptional circumstances), but not 12, as was suggested.

Similar to @Jovis I'm a ST holder in Coventry and some home games just aren't possible not unless i want to bunk my lad off school at any rate. Chelsea and Southampton are 2 pain in the arses in particular. This weekend I have a different problem and needed a 3rd ticket for 52 quid on the exchange.

The reality is some games have to be shared officially of course. I wouldn't dream of having a shared Google wallet logon as that would be against the rules.

Why would anyone making just 5 or 6 home games want a season ticket?!

You've stated your particular circumstances, but someone coming to so few games may just be looking to watch top Premier League teams on the cheap, and may not even a Brighton fan. I think that's what the club is guarding against.

(Watford used to contact fans if they missed just two matches btw)

To have the best chance possible of going to away games? I attend more away games than home games.
Right. But the club would, I think, argue that's not in the spirit of a season ticket.

They don't want fans buying a season ticket - at a heavy discount - and selling off the tickets most weeks.

PS Looking forward to the absolutely BINFEST on here when the club starts giving loyalty points for (actually attending) home games.

The club don't seem enforce that particular clause, unless it is new for this season?
its been in the Ts and Cs for a while . They don't say its an automatic bar from season ticket renewal - they just they "reserve the right" to ...but you'd imagine that demand and the desire to fill the ground has forced at least a rethink.

Season ticket demand this season was - i think - at its highest ever with 95% renewal and they sold out before June.

All members are on the waiting list and i think they will have certain windows for getting tickets (eg: attendance of x home games etc) next season assuming demand holds up. Why wouldn't it ? . Idea that there isn't demand for tickets - why do people on here insist that games don't sell out , that season tickets aren't sold out , and there isn't a waiting list - its bizarre.

Now that's a good idea

So you are basically buying 200 (if done over a number of seasons) "loyalty" points in order to attend away games in front of some fans who attend lots of home matches

Given that 3 of the 5 I’ve missed were Citeh, Utd and Spurs, I’m not exactly cherry picking fixtures! But I get your point.

By the end of the season I’ll likely have attended 10 or so home games. The reason I retain a season ticket rather than buy individually for games I can definitely make, is because I enjoy sitting with people I stood with on the north stand, sat next to at the Withdean, and have sat with since the Amex opened.
